Ionization Equilibrium Timescales in Collisional Plasmas

open access: yes, 2010
Astrophysical shocks or bursts from a photoionizing source can disturb the typical collisional plasma found in galactic interstellar media or the intergalactic medium.

Oscillation criteria of even-order nonlinear delay differential equations

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1976
AbstractIt is the purpose of this paper to establish oscillations criteria for even-order nonlinear differential equation in a very general form with delay and to extend result due to Staikos and Petsoulas, which are in turn generalizations of others.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Oscillation Criteria for Certain Even Order Neutral Delay Differential Equations with Mixed Nonlinearities

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We establish some oscillation criteria for the following certain even order neutral delay differential equations with mixed nonlinearities: rtzn-1tα-1zn-1t'+q0(t)(xτ0tα-1x(τ0(t))+q1t(x(τ1(t))β-1x(τ1(t))+q2t(x(τ2(t))γ-1x(τ2(t))=0, t≥t0, where z(t)=x(t)+p ...

Oscillation criteria for certain even-order damped functional differential equations

open access: yesMathematical and Computer Modelling, 2003
The authors consider even-order nonlinear functional-differential equations with damping terms. They apply the integral averages technique to established some new oscillation criteria of Philos-type. As a special case, they derive some oscillation criteria of Kamenev-type.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Optimal stability polynomials for numerical integration of initial value problems

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the problem of finding optimally stable polynomial approximations to the exponential for application to one-step integration of initial value ordinary and partial differential equations.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Class IIa HDACs forced degradation allows resensitization of oxaliplatin‐resistant FBXW7‐mutated colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.
