Distributed event driven optimization for network utility maximization

2016 IEEE 55th Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2016
The network utility maximization problem has wide applications in wireless sensor networks and power grids. In this paper, we propose a distributed event driven optimization method to the network utility maximization problem, which can be regarded as an extension of the classical dual decomposition algorithm. By exploiting the dual problem, we are able

Lifetime Maximization in UWB Sensor Networks for Event Detection

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2011
The operational lifetime of a wireless sensor network (WSN) for event detection is determined by the maximum time that the network is able to meet given detection requirements (DRs), i.e., the probabilities of detection and false alarm demanded by the application.

Maximal indecomposable past sets and event horizons

International Journal of Theoretical Physics, 1984
It is known [\textit{R. Geroch}, \textit{E. H. Kronheimer} and \textit{R. Penrose}, Proc. R. Soc. Lond., Ser. A 327, 545-567 (1972; Zbl 0257.53059)] that space-times generally have a boundary, defined by certain past and future sets. A past set is one which coincides with its own past; it is indecomposable if it is not the union of two past sets.

Maximizing robustness of supervisors for partially observed discrete event systems

Automatica, 2004
A robust supervisory control problem first addressed by \textit{J. E. R. Cury} and \textit{B. H. Krogh} [IEEE Trans. Autom. Control 44, 376--379 (1999; Zbl 1056.93563)] is considered. The problem is to synthesize a supervisor for the nominal plant model which maximizes robustness.

Influence Maximization-Based Event Organization on Social Networks

2017
This paper is an ongoing work, and was presented as “Lightening Talk” in the DyNo workshop held at ECML/PKDD 2017. Online event-based social services allow users to organize social events by specifying the themes, and invite friends to participate social events.

IMPACT EVENTS AND THE MAXIMIZING OF EDUCATIONAL AND EMPLOYMENT FUTURES

Higher Education in Europe, 1981
The author is concerned with the possibilities and limits of forecasting and maximizing models and the possible use of impact events in such models. His proposal on how and when to implement such models is of direct concern to administrators and decision‐makers in higher education.

Try event management software to maximize ROI

Nonprofit Business Advisor, 2015
Successfully orchestrating a major fundraising event takes substantial time and resources, and while they more often than not pay off in the form of increased donations, many nonprofits don't adequately track the return on investment from such events, let alone have systems in place to maximize that return on investment.
