Chain event graphs : theory and application [PDF]
This thesis is concerned with the Graphical model known as the Chain Event Graph (CEG) [1][60][61], and develops the theory that appears in the currently published papers on this work.

Transitivity and self-caused readings in Spanish deverbal nouns
This paper examines the structural properties underlying the distribution and interpretation of two types of deverbal nouns in Spanish: miento nominals (e.g. hundimiento 'the sinking') and do/da nominals (e.g.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Evaluating the capacity of clinical pathways through discrete-event simulation. [PDF]
Organizing a medical facility efficiently is hard due to the numerous patient trajectories and their use of joint and scarce resources. Moreover, these trajectories tend to be complex and characterized by uncertain medical processes.

Implementation of supersymmetric processes in the HERWIG event generator
We describe the implementation of supersymmetric processes in the HERWIG Monte Carlo event generator. We define relevant parameter and mixing conventions and list the hard scattering matrix elements.

Spatial structures in event-place formation
Event-places occupy different physical layouts, but we lack a comprehensive understanding of their structures and arrangements. This study aims to uncover some of these patterns by examining various urban spaces recognized as event-places.

The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Modular control-loop detection
This paper presents an efficient algorithm to detect control-loops in large finite-state systems. The proposed algorithm exploits the modular structure present in many models of practical relevance, and often successfully avoids the explicit ...

Diffusion processes and event history analysis [PDF]
Several authors (e.g., Brüderl, Diekmann, Yamaguchi) derive hazard rate models of event history analysis from social diffusion processes. This paper also focuses on the integration of diffusion research and survival analysis.

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
