Effects of Fall Panicum (Panicum dichotomiflorum) Interference on Rough Rice Yield
Fall panicum is a major annual grass weed in drill-seeded rice production systems on organic soils in Florida. Field studies were conducted in 2021 and 2022 to determine the effects of season-long fall panicum interference on rough rice yield on organic ...

Experimentally testing the function of anal fins in the bluefin killifish, Lucania goodei
Abstract Anal fins are thought to affect many functions, including swimming, sperm flow and signalling. However, there are few experimental demonstrations of these functions. We manipulated male anal fins by placing a cut in the fin. We found that cut males had lower fertilization rates than uncut males.

Summary Evidence for the ongoing biodiversity crisis rests on assessment of a small fraction of described species, with major knowledge gaps for most organisms, including plants. Here, we highlight how digitised herbarium specimens can be used to accelerate and improve estimates of recent and ongoing plant extinctions.

Effects of Tree Island Size and Water on the Population Dynamics of Small Mammals in the Everglades
Tree islands in the Everglades prairie provided a unique opportunity to study how patch dynamics affect population processes in two small mammal species, the marsh rice rat and hispid cotton rat. We assessed the effect of island size and water on density,

Abstract The subtropical North Atlantic is a key region for ocean carbon cycling despite its relatively small spatial extent. Here we present a high‐resolution transect (23°–27°N; ∼2° longitude spacing) across the North Atlantic Subtropical Gyre, integrating physical, chemical, and microbial observations to examine how hydrography and nutrient ...

Greenhouse Gas Dynamics From Created Wetlands of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (Canada)
Abstract Beginning in the 17th century, Acadian settlers dyked and drained salt marshes along the Bay of Fundy in Eastern Canada, transforming them into agricultural fields. Over the last ∼50 years, impoundments were created by building dykes to contain freshwater.

Sugarcane in southern Florida suffers from sugarcane rust mite (SRM) infestations, Abacarus sacchari, from summer to early fall. The mite's sex ratio is important in understanding the mite's demography and population dynamics. This is the first report on

Multi‐Decadal Dynamics of Wetland Methane Emissions Revealed by Knowledge‐Guided Machine Learning
Eddy covariance data for wetland CH4 emissions are fragmented, restricting the assessment of their long‐term dynamics. This study developed a knowledge‐guided machine‐learning framework that integrates field observations with biogeochemical principles to reliably reconstruct historical methane fluxes.
