Nanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 17, 11 September 2026.We demonstrate a VO2‐based transmissive reconfigurable intelligent surface for indoor millimeter‐wave communication. The TRIS replaces conventional PIN and varactor diodes with geometrically tailored VO2 switches, enabling transmitted phase control through phase‐transition‐based switching.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries
Advanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 51, 11 September 2026.Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.
