Design Exploration of Initial Bubbles for Higher-Speed Laser-Induced Microjets

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
Laser-induced microjets are advantageous for yielding high-speed and convergent microjets shape. However, owing to the need for high-power laser devices, reducing the required laser power is a prerequisite for convenience in practical use.

Evolving hash functions by means of genetic programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Proceedings of the 8th annual conference on Genetic and evolutionary computation. Seattle, Washington, USA, July 08-12, 2006The design of hash functions by means of evolutionary computation is a relatively new and unexplored problem. In this work, we use

Music and Evolutionary Computation

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a brief history of the western music: from its genesis to serialism and the Darmstadt school. Also some mathematical aspects of music are then presented and confronted with music as a form of art. The question is, are these two distinct aspects compatible? Can computers be of real help in automatic composition?

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.

EVOLUTIONARY COMPUTING PROJECT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
This report summarizes LDRD-funded mathematical research related to computer simulation, inspired in part by combinatorial analysis of sequence to structure relationships of bio-molecules. Computer simulations calculate the interactions among many individual, local entities, thereby generating global dynamics.

FoxO1 signaling in B cell malignancies and its therapeutic targeting

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FoxO1 has context‐specific tumor suppressor or oncogenic character in myeloid and B cell malignancies. This includes tumor‐promoting properties such as stemness maintenance and DNA damage tolerance in acute leukemias, or regulation of cell proliferation and survival, or migration in mature B cell malignancies.

Redundant Representations in Evolutionary Computation [PDF]

open access: yesEvolutionary Computation, 2003
This paper discusses how the use of redundant representations influences the performance of genetic and evolutionary algorithms. Representations are redundant if the number of genotypes exceeds the number of phenotypes. A distinction is made between synonymously and non-synonymously redundant representations. Representations are synonymously redundant

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.
