The Wave Model EXACT-NL

1985
The evolution of a windsea spectrum is strongly controlled by the nonlinear energy transfer S n1 due to resonant wave—wave interactions. Since the exact computation of this process is very time-consuming, most operational wave models are dependent on some form of parametrization of this source function.

Exact test and exact confidence interval for the Cox model

Statistics in Medicine
The Cox proportional hazards model is commonly used to analyze time‐to‐event data in clinical trials. Standard inference procedures for the Cox model are based on asymptotic approximations and may perform poorly when there are few events in one or both treatment groups, as may be the case when the event of interest is rare or when the experimental ...

NOTES ON EXACT AND SEMI-EXACT LÉVY MODELS FOR THE VALUATION OF CDOs [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, 2010
We investigate the effects of certain simplifying assumptions that are often made when valuating tranches of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) using a firm's value approach. Those assumptions are the homogeneity and largeness of the portfolio and the so-called European approximation.

Exact models

2000
Abstract In this chapter a variety of directed models of walks, polygons and animals will be studied. These models include the partition polygons encountered in Chapter 3, as well as directed and partially directed walks. The fact that the models in this chapter are called “exact models “ implies that the generating function can, in ...

Adaptive Exact Inference in Graphical Models

J. Mach. Learn. Res., 2011
Many algorithms and applications involve repeatedly solving variations of the same inference problem, for example to introduce new evidence to the model or to change conditional dependencies. As the model is updated, the goal ofadaptive inference is to take advantage of previously computed quantities to perform inference more rapidly than from scratch.

Exact Modeling of a Finite Time Series

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 1988
The problem of exact data modelling is considered. The central issue is the exact representation of a finite time series by means of a (deterministic) autoregressive system. The modelling objectives are to infer from the data as many laws as possible, and to accept laws only if they are sufficiently supported by the data.

Mathematical Programming Models and Exact Algorithms

2022
This chapter focusses on exact solution approaches for QUBO. We first discuss various mixed integer linear programming formulations, compare their relative strength in terms of LP relaxations, and resulting upper bounding strategies. Then, new developments based on semidefinite programming approaches are discussed in detail.

Exact solutions of ℂPn models

2008
Harmonic maps theory include some examples of non linear field theories of physical interest, among which stationary axisymmetric electrovacuum Einstein equations. After a short review of such applications, we concentrate on the so called CPn models. This is a very nice example of an harmonic physical problem, about which much is known.
