Dynamic simulation of“12·20”Shenzhen landslide
The filled soil of Shenzhen landslide is treated as saturated porous media. The excess pore pressure due to fast filling process is derived using the classical one-dimensional consolidation theory by assuming the thickness of the filled soil to increase ...

Evidence for excess pore pressures in southwest Indian Ocean sediments
Brown clay cores from the Madagascar and Crozet basins show the following evidence of excess pore pressures: large amounts of flow‐in, increasing average sedimentation rate with age, and nonlinear temperature gradients. Additionally, many hilltops in these basins have no visible sediment cover. The bare hilltops may result from periodic slumping caused

Excess pore water pressure due to ground surface erosion [PDF]
Abstract The Laplace transform is applied to solve the groundwater flow equation with a boundary that is initially fixed but that starts to move at a constant rate after some fixed time. This problem arises in the study of pore water pressures due to erosional unloading where the aquifer lies underneath an unsaturated zone.

Study on the Changing Rule of Excess Pore Water Pressure during Dynamic Compaction [PDF]
The changing rule of excess pore water pressure during dynamic compaction is important for construction. The following conclusions could be drawn by observing and analyzing the excess pore water pressure in test area.

Excess pore pressure and slope failures resulting from gas-hydrates dissociation and dissolution [PDF]
Parameters affecting gas hydrate formation include temperature, pore pressure, gas chemistry, and pore-water salinity. Any change in the equilibrium of these parameters may result in dissociation (gas-hydrate turns into free gas/water mixture) and/or ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Excess pore pressure redistribution beneath pipelines: FEA investigation and effects on axial pipe-soil interaction [PDF]
Thermal expansion of seabed pipelinesmay generate excess pore pressure in the surrounding soil. This paper discusses aspects of the excess pore pressure redistribution process and their effects on the effective stresses at pipe-soil interface, and the ...
