How Well Do Contemporary Theories Explain Floating Exchange Rate Changes in an Emerging Economy: The Case of EUR/PLN

open access: yesEconomies, 2022
The purpose of this paper is to investigate how well contemporary exchange rate theories explain fluctuations in exchange rates of emerging economies, before and after the Global Financial Crisis (GFC).

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Exchange Rate Policy in Morocco and Persistence of Real Exchange Rate Misalignments

open access: yesInternational Journal of Economics and Financial Issues, 2013
In this paper, we measure, using Moroccan data, the misalignment of the real exchange rate of the Dirham, based on estimates in respect of the period from 1980 to 2012, a long term relationship between the real exchange rate and its fundamentals: namely

Monetary policy independence and floating exchange rates: what does the Brazilian evidence tell us?

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Political Economy, 2020
Some authors have advocated that shifting from fixed exchange rates to floating regimes has not delivered better economic outcomes to developing countries.

Characterization of fungal carbonyl sulfide hydrolase belonging to clade D β‐carbonic anhydrase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Here, we performed a functional analysis of the fungal enzymes belonging to clade D of the β‐class carbonic anhydrase family (β‐D‐CA). The β‐D‐CAs in the basidiomycete Gloeophyllum trabeum and the ascomycete Trichoderma harzianum showed very low activity in the hydration of CO2 but exhibited high activity in the hydrolysis of carbonyl sulfide (COS ...

Exponential Scaling of Water Exchange Rates with Ion Interaction Strength from the Perspective of Dynamic Facilitation Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Water exchange reactions around ionic solutes are ubiquitous in aqueous solution-phase chemistry. However, the extreme sensitivity of exchange rates to perturbations in the chemistry of an ionic solute is not well understood. We examine water exchange around model ions within the language of dynamic facilitation theory, typically used to describe ...

Functional variation among LPMOs revealed by the inhibitory effects of cyanide and buffer ions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study addresses the inhibition of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) by cyanide and explains how and why the magnitude of observed inhibitory effects depends on the way LPMO reactions are setup and on the type of LPMO. Enzymes known as lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are mono‐copper polysaccharide‐degrading peroxygenases that ...

Movement of the real effective exchange rate of the convertible mark [PDF]

open access: yesBankarstvo
In the research, we evaluated the equilibrium real effective exchange rate of the convertible mark and identified a significant deviation of the real effective exchange rate of the convertible mark concerning the equilibrium level, especially during the ...

EXCHANGE RATE - REGIMES AND POLICIES [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova Ekonomskog Fakulteta u Istočnom Sarajevu, 2014
Exchange rate of one currency is the price of the currency expressed in units of other currency. It is formed by the interaction of supply and demand in the foreign exchange market.

Insertion of the FeB cofactor in cNORs lacking metal inserting chaperones

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nitric oxide reductase is an enzyme found in the bacterial denitrification pathway. The NOR active site contains a non‐heme iron, often, but not always inserted with the assistance of chaperones. Here, we study the insertion of FeB in the subfamily of cNORs lacking chaperones and found a putative channel, conserved in the family, perhaps enabling the ...
