pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

ANALYSIS EFFECT OF INFLATION RATES, INTEREST RATES, EXPORTS AND IMPORTS TO VALUE OF CURRENCY EXCHANGE RATE OF RUPIAH AGAINST UNITED STATES DOLLARS 1998 – 2012

open access: yesJurnal Akuntansi: Kajian Ilmiah Akuntansi, 2015
This research aimed to determine the development of the exchange rate, the extent to which Indonesia can repair and recover the economy after the financial crisis of 1998 to the present.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Exchange of values in contemporary religious architecture in poland symbol in the dialogue between east and west

open access: yesJournal of Architecture and Urbanism, 2009
Poland is situated in the area of cultural and religious borderland, in the sphere of Latin and Greek-Slavonic influence. The Author reviews the past and present examples of the exchange of values in the Christian Churches, i.e. the Eastern (Orthodox and

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Fine value allocations in large exchange economies with differential information. [PDF]

open access: yes
We show that the set of fine value allocations of a pure exchange economy with a continuum of traders and differential information coincides with the set of competitive allocations of an associated symmetric information economy in which each trader has ...

Empirical exchange rate models and currency risk: some evidence from density forecasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A large literature in exchange rate economics has investigated the forecasting performance of empirical exchange rate models using conventional point forecast accuracy criteria.
