Efficient spiker-sustainer excitation scheme for transversely excited gas lasers

Infrared Physics & Technology, 2003
Abstract An efficient spiker-sustainer excitation scheme wherein a single source power and a single switch controls all the three discharges viz., the pre, the spiker, and the sustainer is reported. The delay between the discharges can be controlled by the usage of a simple wire wound inductance of appropriate value. The isolation element between the

Efficient excitation and measurement of plasma channels

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1999
We report formation of a guiding channel for high intensity laser pulses in pure, preionized helium using an axicon focused laser pulse, and demonstrate a single shot technique to measure the temporal and spatial evolution of the plasma channel.

Efficiency analysis of electric vehicles, with emphasis on efficiency optimized excitation

Conference Record of the 1993 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Twenty-Eighth IAS Annual Meeting, 2002
An attempt is made to quantify the efficiency improvements in electric vehicles which can be obtained with optimized flux control. A constant current ratio control strategy and a true optimum flux control strategy are evaluated and compared in stationary speed-torque working points and for standard driving cycles.

Efficient Implementation of Local Excitation Approximation for Treating Excited States of Molecules in Condensed Phase

Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation, 2014
An efficient implementation of the local excitation approximation (LEA) of time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) or time-dependent Hartree-Fock, (TDHF) (or configuration interaction singles, CIS) method has been developed in this work. The LEA-TDDFT, -TDHF, and -CIS methods have been applied to investigate the solvatochromic shift of the n →

Efficient Double-Quantum Excitation in Rotational Resonance NMR

Journal of Magnetic Resonance, 2000
We present a new technique for double-quantum excitation in magic-angle-spinning solid-state NMR. The method involves (i) preparation of nonequilibrium longitudinal magnetization; (ii) mechanical excitation of zero-quantum coherence by spinning the sample at rotational resonance, and (iii) phase-coherent conversion of the zero-quantum coherence into ...

Fluorescent X-ray excitation efficiencies

Spectrochimica Acta, 1961
K-series fluorescent x-ray emission was msasured as a function of primary wavelength and intensity to give the excitation efficiency E/sub i/ sub z/ for founteen elements from titanium to silver. Over-all standard deviations were estimated to be between 1 and 5%.

Parametric excitation approaches to efficient dynamic bipedal walking

2007 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2007
Traditionally, an inverted pendulum has been used as a reduced biped locomotion system, whereas this paper proposes a different approach. The essence of dynamic biped gait generation is mechanical energy restoration, and parametric excitation approach is a good idea for it.

Efficient excitation and amplification of the surface plasmons

Current Applied Physics, 2018
Abstract One dimensional (1D) grating has been fabricated (using focused ion beam) on 50 nm gold (Au) film deposited on higher refractive index Gallium phosphate (GaP) substrate. The sub-wavelength periodic metal nano structuring enable to couple photon to couple with the surface plasmons (SPs) excited by them.

Efficient photoconductive terahertz source using line excitation

Optics Letters, 2005
We report significant improvement in terahertz (THz) power and efficiency using photoconductive sources by use of a spatially extended line source excitation and the trap enhanced field effect that occurs in sources made on semi-insulating GaAs. The combination of high electric fields and reduced screening effects allows 10 microW of THz power to be ...

Efficient algorithms for obtaining multipulse excitation for LPC coders

ICASSP '85. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005
Since the presentation of multi-pulse excitation concept for LPC coders, by Atal and Remde, many different analysis techniques have been proposed to derive the excitation waveform. This paper describes several approaches for pulse amplitude and position determination.
