Exchange Potential for excited states: A self- consistent DFT calculation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
An LDA exchange potential is proposed for excited states and to test this potential we apply it to the excited states of atomic system. The potential is an approximate functional derivative of an accurate exchange energy functional for excited states. We show that the potential satisfies Levey- Perdew theorem for exchange energy and janak theorem for ...

Bound excited states in 27F

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2004
The 1H(27F, 25,26,27F) reactions have been studied at 40 MeV/nucleon average energy using a liquid hydrogen target. For 25F, 26F and 27F nuclei, we have observed two γ-ray peaks each originating from the decay of two bound excited states. This is the first sign of the existence of bound excited states in 26,27F.

Novel photochemical reactions of carbocyclic diazodiketones without elimination of nitrogen – a suitable way to N-hydrazonation of C–H-bonds

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
The sensitized photoexcitation of 2-diazocyclopentane-1,3-diones in the presence of THF leads to the insertion of the terminal N-atom of the diazo group into the α-С–Н bond of THF, producing the associated N-alkylhydrazones in yields of up to 63–71 ...

Excitation Number: Characterizing Multiply Excited States

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Theory and Computation, 2017
How many electrons are excited in an electronic transition? In this Letter, we introduce the excitation number η to answer this question when the initial and final states are each modeled by a single-determinant wave function. We show that calculated η values lie close to positive integers, leading to unambiguous assignments of the number of excited ...

Closing the gap in plan quality: Leveraging deep‐learning dose prediction for adaptive radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Balancing quality and efficiency has been a challenge for online adaptive therapy. Most systems start the online re‐optimization with the original planning goals. While some systems allow planners to modify the planning goals, achieving a high‐quality plan within time constraints remains a common barrier.

An accurate exchange energy functional in excited-state density functional theory [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
An exchange energy functional is proposed and tested for obtaining a class of excited-state energies using density-functional formalism. The functional is the excited-state counterpart of the local-density approximation functional for the ground-state.

Time dependence of quantum oscillator excitation by electromagnetic pulses [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The paper is devoted to the theoretical investigation of time dependences of quantum oscillator excitation by electromagnetic pulses for arbitrary values of field amplitude in the pulse. We consider the harmonic oscillator without relaxation and excitation between stationary states.

Effects of simultaneous multislice acceleration on the stability of radiomics features in parametric maps of IVIM and DKI in uterine cervical cancer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of the simultaneous multislice acceleration (SMS) technique as well as two‐dimensional (2D) and three‐dimensional (3D) tumor segmentations on radiomics features (RFs) within the parametric maps of cervical cancer, which were computed by intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) and ...

Methods for working with problem residents in medical physics residency education

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Medical physics residency training programs may occasionally encounter residents requiring additional intervention beyond normal training efforts. In the literature, these residents are referred to as “problem” residents. While the physician literature on the subject is valuable, this paper specifically focuses on dealing with a problem ...
