Harnessing Exciton–Exciton Annihilation in Two-Dimensional Semiconductors [PDF]
Strong many-body interactions in two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors give rise to efficient exciton-exciton annihilation (EEA). This process is expected to result in the generation of unbound high energy carriers. Here, we report an unconventional photoresponse of van der Waals heterostructure devices resulting from efficient EEA. Our heterostructures,

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Band Alignment in In‐Oxo Metal Porphyrin SURMOF Heterojunctions
Porphyrin core metalation in indium‑oxo SURMOFs enables systematic tuning of band edge positions without altering the crystal structure. First‑principles calculations reveal type‑I and type‑II heterostructures as well as multi‑junction energy cascades, establishing a modular strategy for exciton funneling and charge separation in optoelectronic ...

Near-field optical imaging and spectroscopy of 2D-TMDs
Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D-TMDs) are atomically thin semiconductors with a direct bandgap in monolayer thickness, providing ideal platforms for the development of exciton-based optoelectronic devices.

Exciton-related electroluminescence from monolayer MoS2
Excitons in MoS2 dominate the absorption and emission properties of the two-dimensional system. Here, we study the microscopic origin of the electroluminescence from monolayer MoS2 fabricated on a heavily p-type doped silicon substrate.

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

Electrical control of the exciton-biexciton splitting in a single self-assembled InGaAs quantum dots [PDF]
We report on single InGaAs quantum dots embedded in a lateral electric field device. By applying a voltage we tune the neutral exciton transition into resonance with the biexciton using the quantum confined Stark effect.
