In four experiments, we investigated the automaticity of exemplar activation. In the first three studies, using a modified flanker task, we investigated the involuntary activation of exemplar-based representations in the presence of triggering verbal stimuli. Results of all three studies demonstrated the unintentional activation of exemplars in memory.

We present a hybrid parametric and nonparametric algorithm, exemplar cut, for generating class-specific object segmentation hypotheses. For the parametric part, we train a pylon model on a hierarchical region tree as the energy function for segmentation.

Searching for applications that are highly relevant to development tasks is challenging because the high-level intent reflected in the descriptions of these tasks doesn't usually match the low-level implementation details of applications. In this demo we show a novel code search engine called Exemplar (EXEcutable exaMPLes ARchive) to bridge this ...

AbstractThis paper presents recent research that provides an overarching model of exemplar theory capable of explaining phenomena across the phonetic and syntactic strata. The model represents a unique exemplar‐based account of constituency interactions encompassing both linguistic domains.

The metamorphoses of the ?Exemplar?
AI & Society, 2000The starting point of this work isthe artificial, as defined in a previous study by Massimo Negrotti and, more completely, in the essay presented here, as “a machine which reproduces the essential performance of some natural subsystem that serves as an exemplar, at a chosen level of observation”.
