Exergy efficiency of ammonia production

open access: yes, 2018
© 2018 eceee and the authors, Stockholm. The chemical industry is responsible for roughly 6 % of global primary energy consumption and global greenhouse gas emissions, as well as a key fossil-fuel user (Cullen and Allwood 2010). Material and energy efficiency are the focus of industrial and policy decision-makers but are often pursued as separate ...

Exergy Efficiency of Interplanetary Transfer Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In order to optimize systems, systems engineers require some sort of measure with which to compare vastly different system components. One such measure is system exergy, or the usable system work. Exergy balance analysis models provide a comparison of different system configurations, allowing systems engineers to compare different systems configuration

Design and Performance Analysis of a Thermal Energy Storage System With Steam Extraction and Electric Heating in a Coal‐Fired Power Plant

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To alleviate the impact of the instability of renewable energy power generation on the power grid, coal‐fired power plants (CFPPs) have to undertake peak shaving tasks, which puts forward high requirements for the flexibility of CFPPs. To enhance the flexibility of CFPPs to consume more renewable energy, this paper innovatively proposes a ...

Optimum exergy efficiency of solar collectors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, 1989
An optimum exergy efficiency is derived for flat-plate solar collectors as a ratio of exergy delivery of the collector to the maximum output exergy obtainable. It is a function of the optimum mass flow rate through the collector, which itself is obtained through an optimization of the exergy delivery of the collector.
