The ambient temperature influence on deaerator exergy efficiency and exergy losses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The exergy analysis of deaerator at three different steam power plant loads is performed in this paper. Also, the influence of the ambient temperature change on deaerator exergy efficiency and losses is analyzed. From the exergy viewpoint, deaerator operation shows the best characteristics at middle and high power plant loads.

Influence of Structural and Environmental Parameters on Solar Air Collector Performance

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Increasing air gap depth and mass flow rate significantly enhances the thermal performance of solar air collectors, with optimal performance achieved at an 8.5 cm air gap and 0.01318 kg/s mass flow rate. Air gap depth is identified as the dominant factor influencing system efficiency.

Exergy-Based Sustainability Assessment of Gold Mining in Colombia: A Comparative Analysis of Open-Pit and Alluvial Mining

open access: yesEnergies
Thermodynamic methods such as exergy analysis enable the evaluation of environmental load (environmental impacts) by quantifying entropy generation and exergy destruction associated with using renewable and non-renewable resources throughout a production

Investigating the Iron‐Steam Process for Coupling With SOEC and SOFC: A Step Toward Integrated Hydrogen and Electricity Storage

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Fixed‐bed reactor experiments (10 L) validate the iron–steam redox process, bridging material‐scale research and industrial power‐to‐power applications. Coupled with SOEC/SOFC systems, this framework defines critical interfaces for heat and gas management. Results confirm reproducible hydrogen storage and release, demonstrating technical feasibility at

Hevea brasiliensis seeds: A novel sustainable feedstock for ethanol production

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Chemistry, EarlyView.
Abstract The rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) is cultivated on a large scale mainly for the extraction of latex in Brazil and Southeast Asia, also generating large quantities of seeds. These seeds currently do not have large‐scale applications and may thus be considered as a residue.

Exergy Efficiency of Interplanetary Transfer Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In order to optimize systems, systems engineers require some sort of measure with which to compare vastly different system components. One such measure is system exergy, or the usable system work. Exergy balance analysis models provide a comparison of different system configurations, allowing systems engineers to compare different systems configuration

An Overview of High‐Temperature Superconducting Cables in DC Systems: Unlocking Potential for High‐Voltage DC Networks

open access: yesHigh Voltage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper provides an overview of high‐temperature superconducting (HTS) cables in DC systems, with a focus on their deployment in high‐voltage DC (HVDC) networks. The assessment of HTS cable properties—such as extremely low electrical resistance, high current‐carrying capacity and a compact geometry—and their comparison with those of ...
