Thermodynamic analysis of a novel fossil-fuel–free energy storage system with a trans-critical carbon dioxide cycle and heat pump [PDF]
This paper presents and analyzes a novel fossil-fuel–free trans-critical energy storage system that uses CO2 as the working fluid in a closed loop shuttled between two saline aquifers or caverns at different depths: one a low-pressure reservoir and the ...

On the analogy between the evolution of thermodynamicand bibliometric systems: a breakthrough or justa bubble? [PDF]
This paper presents an in depth study of an interesting analogy, recently proposed by Prathap (Scientometrics 87(3):515-524, 2011a), between the evolution of thermodynamic and bibliometric systems.

Exergy Efficiency Definitions for Manufacturing Processes
The original application of thermodynamic metrics for manufacturing processes has been under development throughout the last decade. The metrics are based on the second law of thermodynamics. Therefore, the exergy value of both input and output streams is used to quantify them.

Energy and Exergy Efficiency Analysis of Sealing Steam Condenser in Propulsion System of LNG Carrier
In ship propulsion systems today diesel engines are dominant, but steam propulsion systems prevail in one type of ships and that are LNG carriers. Such steam propulsion systems consist of many different components.

An estimation of different minimum exergy return ratios required for society [PDF]
This article shows that as technical change enhances the conversion efficiency of primary-to-final and final-to-useful exergy processes, the minimum exergy return ratios (ExRR) required for society decreases, irrespective of the boundary under ...

Exergy Efficiency and Environmental Impact of Electricity of a 620 MW-Natural Gas Combined Cycle
In the first part of this investigation, a Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) producing 620 MW of electricity was simulated using the commercial software Aspen Hysys V9.0 and the Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK) equation of state.

Sugarcane juice is clarified and fermented with yeast to produce ethanol and CO₂. The broth is refined through distillation and molecular sieves, yielding fuel‐grade ethanol stored for transport. Bagasse, vinasse, and residues are recycled as valuable by‐products, enabling a sustainable bioethanol production pathway ABSTRACT This study investigates the
