Understanding extracellular vesicle biology, isolation, and characterization: The theory of EV‐erything

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Extracellular vesicles (EVs), especially exosomes, are nanoparticles increasingly recognized as key regulators of intercellular communication in both physiological and pathological aspects. Despite rapid progress, inconsistencies in nomenclature, isolation, and characterization continue to restrict translational advancement.

Examining Electronic Health Records to Investigate Sex Differences in Oral Diseases and Conditions

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Sexual dimorphism has been shown to influence disease predisposition and/or progression, although population‐based studies in dental, oral, and craniofacial (DOC) diseases and conditions are limited. This study aimed to identify sex‐based differences in DOC diseases/conditions using two large health data repositories.

Exploring Cervical Cancer‐Associated Vaginal and Cervical Microbiota via 16S rRNA Sequencing

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, October 2026.
This 16S sequencing study identified a dysbiotic cervical microbiota (increased diversity, reduced Lactobacillus, enriched Prevotella) specifically linked to high‐risk HPV infection. These microbial alterations, shaped by the HPV‐driven microenvironment, offer novel targets for biomarkers and mechanistic research in cervical carcinogenesis.
