ASSESSMENT OF RADIOACTIVITY AND RADON EXHALATION RATE IN EGYPTIAN CEMENT
Health Physics, 2004The cement industry is considered as one of the basic industries that plays an important role in the national economy of developing countries. Activity concentration of 238U, 232Th, and 40K in local cement types from different Egyptian factories has been measured using a shielded HPGe detector.

Relation Between Limiting Exhalation Flow Rate and Lung Volume
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1987A previous communication presented a procedure to convert perturbational airways resistance to plethysmographic resistance. While working with this procedure, we discovered that one of the unknown exhalation parameters must be, set to a value of 1.0, and another represents the inverse of the respiratory system time constant.

Estimation of global radon exhalation rate distribution
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008A radon exhalation rate distribution model was developed, which considers dependency on soil water saturation, soil temperature and soil texture. The global averages of the radon exhalation rates were calculated to be 17.5 and 18.0 mBq⋅m−2⋅s−1 by the model with different input soil moisture data.

Natural radioactivity and radon exhalation rate in Brazilian igneous rocks
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2011This paper reports the natural radioactivity of Brazilian igneous rocks that are used as dimension stones, following the trend of other studies on the evaluation of the risks to the human health caused by the rocks radioactivity as a consequence of their use as cover indoors. Gamma-ray spectrometry has been utilized to determine the (40)K, (226)Ra and (

Radon Exhalation Rates and Gamma Doses from Ceramic Tiles
Health Physics, 1998This study was carried out to assess the possible radiological hazard resulting from the use of zircon in glaze applied to tiles used in buildings. The 226Ra content of various stains and glazing compounds was measured using gamma spectroscopy and the 222Rn exhalation rates for these materials were measured using adsorption on activated charcoal.

Radon Exhalation Rate of Some Building Materials Used in Egypt
Environmental Geochemistry and Health, 2005Indoor radon has been recognized as one of the health hazards for mankind. Common building materials used for construction of houses, which are considered as one of the major sources of this gas in indoor environment, have been studied for exhalation rate of radon.

Natural radioactivity and radon exhalation rate of soil in southern Egypt
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2001The level of natural radioactivity in soil of 30 mining samples collected from six locations in southern Egypt was measured. Concentrations of radionuclides in samples were determined by gamma-ray spectrometer using HPGe detector with a specially designed shield.

Development and application of a continuous measurement system for radon exhalation rate
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2011A continuous measurement system, with a ventilation-type accumulation chamber, was developed for radon exhalation rate determination. A reasonable sampling flow rate for the measurement system was determined by comparing the values obtained by the system with those obtained by a grab sampling method.

Radiation Physics and Chemistry
During radon measurements, radon exhalation monitors are required to be calibrated by a radon exhalation reference device. A reliable correction factor can be obtained only if the effective decay constant used in the calibration matches the one that prevails when the monitor is deployed in the field.

Study on the influence of water saturation on radon exhalation rates of rocks
Science of the Total EnvironmentThe radon exhalation characteristics of rocks will change significantly during water saturation treatment, and radon, as an important tracer, is of great significance in predicting rock activities. In this paper, the radon exhalation characteristics of rocks after saturated with different water contents were studied by centrifugal test, radon ...
