Brake wear particle emissions: A review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Traffic related sources have been recognized as a significant contributor of particulate matter particularly within major cities. Exhaust and non-exhaust traffic related sources are estimated to contribute almost equally to traffic related PM10 emissions.

Effect of waste cooking-oil biodiesel on performance and exhaust emissions of a diesel engine

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Petroleum, 2018
The ever increase in global energy demand, consumption of depletable fossil fuels, exhaust emissions and global warming, all these led to search about alternative fuels. Biodiesel was produced from waste cooking-oil by transesterification process. Blends

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Testing and evaluation of cold-start emissions from a gasoline engine in RDE test at two different ambient temperatures

open access: yesOpen Engineering, 2021
In order to better reflect the actual ecological performance of vehicles in traffic conditions, both the emission standards and the applied emission tests are being developed, for example by considering exhaust emissions for a cold engine start.

The effect of ambient temperature on cold start urban traffic emissions for a real world SI car [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The influence of ambient temperature on exhaust emissions for an instrumented Euro 1 SI car was determined. A real world test cycle was used, based on an urban drive cycle that was similar to the ECE urban drive cycle.

Emission of Carcinogenic Components with Automobile Exhausts

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1983
Different sampling methods for mutagenic polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are described. These methods involve either direct sampling of raw exhausts which prior to filtering are cooled in a condenser, or filter sampling of exhausts diluted in a tunnel.

An analysis of energy flow in a turbocharged diesel engine of a heavy truck and potentials of improving fuel economy and reducing exhaust emissions

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management, 2019
The impetus of the internal combustion engine developments is the reductions of the fuel consumptions and exhaust emissions. Thermal management is an efficient method to decrease the exhaust emissions and enhance fuel economy.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
