Knee Exoskeleton- Review of Knee Musculature and Exoskeleton Device Proposed Design

2021 IEEE 3rd Eurasia Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare and Sustainability (ECBIOS), 2021
A review of the lower extremity musculature surrounding the knee is provided as well as a lower extremity knee exoskeleton design proposed. The review provides a general understanding of the body m usculature around the knee with an emphasis on the geometry of the musculature.

The embodiment of assistive devices—from wheelchair to exoskeleton

Physics of Life Reviews, 2016
Spinal cord injuries (SCIs) place a heavy burden on the healthcare system and have a high personal impact and marked socio-economic consequences. Clinically, no absolute cure for these conditions exists. However, in recent years, there has been an increased focus on new robotic technologies that can change the frame we think about the prognosis for ...

Development of a Wearable Exoskeleton Haptic Interface Device

Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering, 2008
We developed a wearable exoskeleton haptic interface to fit the human body. We generated a force constituting a contrasting moment by pulling a wire using a dc motor. We also developed a control system, which included a motor controller, an interface, and a control software.

Human-robot symbiosis framework on exoskeleton devices

2016 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2016
In the near future, human-robot coexistence and symbiosis will be a common scenario in our society. Especially with the increasing number of patients with stroke or other neurological disorders and the gradually aging population, people may need wearable exoskeletons that actively assist human's movements. In designing these robots, physical humanrobot

Performance measures of teleoperation using an exoskeleton device

Proceedings., IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
A study was conducted to evaluate performance of a man-machine interface system consisting of a human wearing a passive exoskeleton device. This experiment obtained some crude measures of human response characteristics treating the exoskeleton device as a complicated sensor array. A Fitt's law paradigm was used to help evaluate human performance.

A Study of Exoskeleton Walking Aids Device

2017 International Conference on Industrial Informatics - Computing Technology, Intelligent Technology, Industrial Information Integration (ICIICII), 2017
Among the disabled people, patients with lower limb disability account for a large proportion. In order to help these patients to restore walking ability, a kind of walking aids device is required which can simulate the normal gait of humans. In this paper a kind of exoskeleton device is shown which has three freedoms of hip joint, knee joint and ankle

HANDEXOS: Towards an exoskeleton device for the rehabilitation of the hand

2009 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2009
This paper introduces a novel exoskeleton device (HANDEXOS) for the rehabilitation of the hand for post-stroke patients. The nature of the impaired hand can be summarized in a limited extension, abduction and adduction leaving the fingers in a flexed position, so the exoskeleton goal is to train a safe extension motion from the typical closed position ...

Design and Analysis of Exoskeleton as a Rehabilitation Device

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016
Exoskeleton is an external cantilever to support inner living organism organs. Some animals have the exoskeleton attached naturally on their body as those found in a million species of arthropods order. The word “Arthropods” itself are related to their body plan—their segmented body, hard exoskeleton, and jointed appendages [1]. This structure inspired

Lego exoskeleton: An educational tool to design rehabilitation device

2017 IEEE International Conference on Real-time Computing and Robotics (RCAR), 2017
This paper aims to develop a model capable of mimicking human hand using LEGO Mindstorms EV3 which can be used as an education tool for students. It would be interesting if students have capabilities of developing exoskeleton device according to their requirements.

A Soft Approach to the Exoskeleton Wearable Device for Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD)

2021 IEEE 4th International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft), 2021
TMD case requires correct and sufficient guide to the patients’ mandible movement. It is the most ideal application where robotic device is demanded for the movement training apart from the surgical operations done by the doctors. This paper presents a two-soft-actuator robotic joint design applied on an exoskeleton soft wearable device with ...
