Musing on the structural organization of the exosome complex.
The exosome complex of 3'-->5' exoribonucleases functions in both the precise processing of 3' extended precursor molecules to mature stable RNAs and the complete degradation of other RNAs. Both processing and degradative activities of the exosome depend on additional cofactors, notably the putative RNA helicases Mtr4p and Ski2p.

Exosome in Cardiovascular Diseases: A Complex World Full of Hope [PDF]
Exosomes are a subgroup of extracellular vesicles containing a huge number of bioactive molecules. They represent an important means of cell communication, mostly between different cell populations, with the purpose of maintaining tissue homeostasis and coordinating the adaptive response to stress.

RNA Turnover: Unexpected Consequences of Being Tailed [PDF]
In eukaryotic cells, the 3′ poly(A) tails found on mRNA influence their stability and translation. The discovery of a second nuclear poly(A) polymerase complex has fueled a series of reports defining a new and unexpected role for 3′ end poly(A) tails in ...

Interaction Profiling Identifies the Human Nuclear Exosome Targeting Complex [PDF]
The RNA exosome is a conserved degradation machinery, which obtains full activity only when associated with cofactors. The most prominent activator of the yeast nuclear exosome is the RNA helicase Mtr4p, acting in the context of the Trf4p/Air2p/Mtr4p polyadenylation (TRAMP) complex. The existence of a similar activator(s) in humans remains elusive.

A targeted siRNA‐loaded PDL1‐exosome and functional evaluation against lung cancer
Background As an endocytic nanosicle involved in intercellular communication, an exosome can efficiently deliver drugs from one cell to another and deliver therapeutic short interfering RNA (siRNA) to target cells.

Purification and analysis of endogenous human RNA exosome complexes [PDF]
As a result of its importance in key RNA metabolic processes, the ribonucleolytic RNA exosome complex has been the focus of intense study for almost two decades. Research on exosome subunit assembly, cofactor and substrate interaction, enzymatic catalysis and structure have largely been conducted using complexes produced in the yeast Saccharomyces ...

Certain Adenylated Non-Coding RNAs, Including 5′ Leader Sequences of Primary MicroRNA Transcripts, Accumulate in Mouse Cells following Depletion of the RNA Helicase MTR4 [PDF]
RNA surveillance plays an important role in posttranscriptional regulation. Seminal work in this field has largely focused on yeast as a model system, whereas exploration of RNA surveillance in mammals is only recently begun.

Viruses and the cellular RNA decay machinery. [PDF]
The ability to control cellular and viral gene expression, either globally or selectively, is central to a successful viral infection, and it is also crucial for the host to respond and eradicate pathogens.
