Abstract B21: Exostosin 1 regulates cancer cell stemness in breast cancer cells
Cancer Research, 2016Abstract Cancer stem cells (CSCs), a group of cancer cells, are associated with resistance to radiation and chemotherapy and are implicated in recurrent of cancer. Exostosin 1 (EXT1) gene is widely reported as tumor suppressor and its indispensable role in elongation of heparan sulfate (HS) can speculate probable role as tumor promotor ...

Background : Exostosin-1 is a protein that encoded by the EXT1 which is one of the two endoplasmic reticulum-resident type II transmembrane glycosyltransferase, that is involved in the chain elongation step of heparan sulfate biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene cause the type I form of multiple exostoses.
