Genome-wide admixture and association study of subclinical atherosclerosis in the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major comorbidity among HIV-infected individuals. Common carotid artery intima-media thickness (cCIMT) is a valid and reliable subclinical measure of atherosclerosis and is known to predict CVD.

D-glucuronyl C5-epimerase acts in dorso-ventral axis formation in zebrafish [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
BACKGROUND: Heparan sulfate (HS) is an ubiquitous component of the extracellular matrix that binds and modulates the activity of growth factors, cytokines and proteases.

Increase of exostosin 1 in plasma as a potential biomarker for opisthorchiasis-associated cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2013
A proteomic-based approach was used to search for potential markers in the plasma of hamsters in which cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) was induced by Opisthorchis viverrini infection and N-nitrosodimethylamine treatment. The plasma proteins of CCA-induced hamsters were resolved by 1-D PAGE, digested by trypsin, and analyzed by LC-MS/MS.

Identification of genomic regions associated with partial resistance to Aphanomyces root rot in pea

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 18, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Root rot caused by Aphanomyces euteiches is a major concern in pea (Pisum sativum L.). The lack of other effective control strategies makes crucial the development of resistant varieties. Although partial resistance has been reported, its quantitative inheritance, the association of resistance‐linked genomic regions with unfavorable agronomic ...

Víztakarékos öntözéstechnikával termeszthető rizsfajtákra jellemző génexpressziós mintázatok = Gene expression profiles characteristic to rice varieties cultivated under water-saver irrigation regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008

A Genome-Wide RNAi Screen in Caenorhabditis elegans Identifies the Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Subunit ACR-7 as an Antipsychotic Drug Target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We report a genome-wide RNA interference (RNAi) screen for Suppressors of Clozapine-induced Larval Arrest (scla genes) in Caenorhabditis elegans, the first genetic suppressor screen for antipsychotic drug (APD) targets in an animal. The screen identifies

Cerebrospinal fluid proteins in relation to longitudinal cognitive trajectories

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION We investigated longitudinal cognitive trajectories in relation to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteomics in Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS Differential protein abundance analysis of proteomics (SomaScan 7K) data was performed for composite scores for domain‐specific cognitive functions (memory [MEM], executive function [EF], and

Hereditary Multiple Exostoses with Rare Ocular Finding: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Current Ophthalmology
Purpose: To study rare ocular findings in a rare case of hereditary multiple exostoses (HME) and to study HME in one family. Methods: HME is an autosomal dominant genetic disease characterized by the presence of multiple exostoses (osteochondromas).

Heparan sulphation patterns generated by specific heparan sulfotransferase enzymes direct distinct aspects of retinal axon guidance at the optic chiasm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axons from each eye execute a series of maneuvers as they converge on the ventral surface of the brain at the optic chiasm for sorting into the optic tracts.

Multiple exostoses and an osteochondroma in a Pliocene canid from Langebaanweg ‘E’ Quarry (South Africa)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 247, Issue 3-4, Page 856-868, September/October 2025.
Overview of XS of pathological radius. Using anatomical descriptions, CT scanning and bone histology, we investigate several skeletal overgrowths of bone (exostoses) in the skeleton of a jackal‐like canid from the world famous Langebaanweg, a Mio‐Pliocene locality in South Africa.
