Magnetohydrodynamic Effects on Exothermal Waves

Journal of the Aerospace Sciences, 1960
Summary Elementary magnetohydrodynamic effects on exothermal, plane, supersonic waves are examined. One-dimensional steady flow with heat addition in the presence of a plane magnetic field transverse to the direction of motion is studied. Basic equations are derived and solved numerically for several ideal conditions which correspond to gaseous ...

Formation of exothermic centers and their effects

Acta Astronautica, 1977
Abstract This review is intended to highlight the current understanding of gas dynamic and chemical factors in the formation of discrete energetic volume elements and elucidate their role in ignition and growth to detonation of explosives. Although most knowledge has been gained from studies using homogeneous, gaseous explosives, similar phenomena ...

Pyrolysis of long chain hydrocarbon-based plastics via self-exothermic effects: The origin and influential factors of exothermic processes

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2022
Converting plastic wastes into value-added products through energy-efficient pyrolysis is essential, and it requires lower pyrolysis temperatures and shorter processing times than that of other processes. An exothermic phenomenon was observed during the process high-pressure polyethylene pyrolysis.

Effects of exothermic chemical reaction on the photoacoustic effect from particulate suspensions

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2011
Irradiation of chemically reactive particulate suspensions by high power, pulsed laser radiation initiates reactions at the sites of the particles so that besides the absorbed optical energy, chemical energy is liberated. In addition to the release of chemical energy, chemical reaction can result in gas production both of which result in enhancement in

Gasdynamic Effects of Fast Exothermic Reactions

1981
Fast exothermic chemical reactions in gas mixtures give rise to spatial gradients of the thermodynamic states (p,T) which equilibrate via diffusion, convective flow, and gasdynamic wave processes. The gasdynamic flow structure generated in turn influences the chemical rate processes and a complex coupling exists between gasdynamics and chemistry.

On hydrodynamic effects of exothermic power in condensed explosives

Acta Astronautica, 1976
Abstract The initial flow produced in an explosive by the impulsive action of a constant velocity rear-boundary is considered to provide a better understanding of the coupling between hydrodynamic flow and chemical reaction and the shock initiation of detonation in explosives impacted by flying plates.

Exothermic effects in soils during thermal analysis

Clay Minerals, 2002
AbstractThis paper addresses the application of thermal analytical methods (DTA/DSC/TG/ MS) in soil investigations, especially the interrelation of exothermic effects and analytical or preparative parameters. For the superimposed decomposition/ oxidation reactions of siderites, FeCO3, the heating rate is shown to have a decisive influence because low ...

Effects of exothermicity on unsteady diffusion flames

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2000
Abstract The effects of exothermicity on unsteady diffusion flames are analysed for one-dimensional geometries and homogeneous isobaric flow. The diffusive burning is described in terms of the mixture fraction by a non-linear integro-differential equation, depending on two parameters: the initial F O ratio and an exothermicity factor, which is

Jumping Exothermic Effect in Polymer Gels

INEOS OPEN
The specific reaction of polymer gels to the effect of an alternating temperature field is explored that is manifested in an exothermic effect, the position of which on the temperature scale depends on the thermal prehistory of the gel. It is found that the described exothermic effect is observed in polymer gels of any nature, and for its manifestation
