The exothermal effect upon interaction of calcium and silicon oxides
High Temperature, 2013Thermodynamic analysis is performed (TERRA software) of the lime-silica interaction for all possible lime-to-silica ratios at normal pressure. The components of the exothermal reactions are calculated. The adiabatic temperature of silica combustion in the lime is found. The heat of the chemical reaction is determined.

Effect of process design on the open-loop behavior of a jacketed exothermic CSTR
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 1994Abstract A great deal of research in the chemical engineering literature on steady-state multiplicity analysis, nonlinear dynamics, and chemical process control has been based on the (now) classic two-state continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) model.

Thermal Response with Exothermic Effects of β2-Microglobulin Amyloid Fibrils and Fibrillation
Journal of Molecular Biology, 2009Calorimetric measurements were carried out using a differential scanning calorimeter to characterize the thermal response of beta(2)-microglobulin amyloid fibrils, the deposition of which results in dialysis-related amyloidosis. The fibril solution showed a large decrease in heat capacity (exothermic effect) before the temperature-induced ...

Exothermic effects during sintering of a mixture of nickel and aluminum powders. II
Soviet Physics Journal, 1968When a mixture of nickel and aluminum powders is sintered there is an exothermic effect which involves a rise of several hundred degrees in the temperature of the compact in a few seconds. The magnitude and nature of the exothermic effect depend on the aluminum content of the mixture, the degree of dispersion of the powders, and the initial porosity of

The effect of heat loss on the propagation of strongly exothermic combustion waves
Combustion Theory and Modelling, 2001We study the propagation in one spatial dimension of combustion waves in a strongly exothermic, premixed fuel. After using numerical methods to determine the form of the combustion waves, we use the method of matched asymptotic expansions to obtain asymptotic approximations for the permanent form travelling wave solutions.

Low temperature exothermic effects on cooling of homoionic clays
Cold Regions Science and Technology, 2011Abstract Results of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) experiments on homoionic montmorillonites (Ca 2+ , Mg 2+ , Na + , K + ) and Na-kaolinite are reported. The low temperature exothermic peaks were observed on cooling down to − 90 °C after the initial peak corresponding to the breakdown of supercooling of water in macro- and mezopores. In some

Exothermicity and three-dimensional effects in unsteady propane square jets
Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1996We present results of numerical simulations of the near field of unsteady fuel jets emerging from a square nozzle into a quiescent oxidizer background with nonpremixed initial conditions. The jets studied are subsonic, compressible, and both jet and surroundings are diluted with nitrogen. The numerical model involves space/time developing jets, species-

Effects of various vessel materials on exothermic decomposition energy measurements
Thermochimica Acta, 2011Abstract The United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, 1999, has specified differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements as a screening method for determining the explosive properties of chemicals. In this study, we have investigated the effects of different vessel materials on the exothermic decomposition energy ( Q
