Exothermicity and Relaminarization Effects in Unsteady Reactive Square Jets

Combustion Science and Technology, 1996
Abstract We present results of numerical simulations of the near field of unsteady reactive square jets. The jets studied are compressible (subsonic) and consist of hydrogen diluted in nitrogen emerging into a quiescent background of oxygen also diluted in nitrogen.

Jumping Exothermic Effect in Polymer Gels

INEOS OPEN
The specific reaction of polymer gels to the effect of an alternating temperature field is explored that is manifested in an exothermic effect, the position of which on the temperature scale depends on the thermal prehistory of the gel. It is found that the described exothermic effect is observed in polymer gels of any nature, and for its manifestation

On hydrodynamic effects of exothermic power in condensed explosives

Acta Astronautica, 1976
Abstract The initial flow produced in an explosive by the impulsive action of a constant velocity rear-boundary is considered to provide a better understanding of the coupling between hydrodynamic flow and chemical reaction and the shock initiation of detonation in explosives impacted by flying plates.

Convective effects in enclosed, exothermically reacting gases

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1974
Abstract The consequences of the occurrence of convection when exothermic chemical reactions take place in a gaseous medium enclosed in a horizontal circular cylinder are investigated by means of a numerical integration of the governing fluid-dynamical equations using an A.D.I. technique.

Effects of exothermicity on unsteady diffusion flames

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2000
Abstract The effects of exothermicity on unsteady diffusion flames are analysed for one-dimensional geometries and homogeneous isobaric flow. The diffusive burning is described in terms of the mixture fraction by a non-linear integro-differential equation, depending on two parameters: the initial F O ratio and an exothermicity factor, which is

Exothermicity and three-dimensional effects in unsteady propane square jets

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1996
We present results of numerical simulations of the near field of unsteady fuel jets emerging from a square nozzle into a quiescent oxidizer background with nonpremixed initial conditions. The jets studied are subsonic, compressible, and both jet and surroundings are diluted with nitrogen. The numerical model involves space/time developing jets, species-

The effect of mechanical activation on highly exothermic powder mixtures

Solid State Ionics, 2001
Abstract The formation of MoSi 2 by ball milling a mixture of Mo and Si powders can take place according to a self-propagating reaction. The mechanical activation that leads to the initiation of this process, is investigated by structural and thermal analysis of samples milled for periods shorter than the ignition time. It is shown that the ignition

The exothermal effect upon interaction of calcium and silicon oxides

High Temperature, 2013
Thermodynamic analysis is performed (TERRA software) of the lime-silica interaction for all possible lime-to-silica ratios at normal pressure. The components of the exothermal reactions are calculated. The adiabatic temperature of silica combustion in the lime is found. The heat of the chemical reaction is determined.
