Bushfire-Resistant Lightweight Masonry Blocks with Expanded Perlite Aggregate

open access: yesFire, 2022
During bushfires, one of the building elements that is directly exposed to embers, radiant heat and direct flames is the “wall” element. This study investigated the feasibility of using expanded perlite aggregate in masonry (i.e., cement) blocks to ...

Colloidal and viscoelastic properties of expanded perlite dispersions

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2017
In this study, structural properties of unexpanded perlite and expanded perlite particles were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis techniques. Electrokinetic properties of unexpanded perlite and expanded perlite particles in polar (water) and non-polar (silicone oil ...

Analisis pasar expanded perlite Indonesia

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi Mineral dan Batubara, 2022
The availability of perlite is always associated with volcanic activities, so perlite has a huge potential in Indonesia. The use of perlite abroad has developed for various applications, but is still limited in Indonesia. One of the perlite development efforts in Indonesia is an analysis to seek market of the expanded perlite.

Confining caesium in expanded natural Perlite [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Ceramic Society, 2007
We present the potential use of expanded perlite, a metastable amorphous hydrated aluminum silicate, as a permanent medium for the long-term confinement of caesium. A simple loading by mixing an aqueous caesium nitrate solution and expanded perlite at 300K followed by thermal annealing leads to 96% sintering.

Effect of Expanded Perlite Aggregate Size on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Ultra Lightweight Concrete Produced with Expanded Perlite Aggregate

open access: yesPeriodica Polytechnica Civil Engineering, 2019
In this study, ultra-light weight concrete (ULWC) with heat-insulating properties is produced by using different size expanded perlite aggregates and various admixtures. The compressive strength, 4 point bending strength, freezing and thawing resistance, water absorption, dry unit weight, ultra sound velocities and thermal conductivity of the samples ...

The Use of Expanded Perlite for Pb(II) removal from Industrial Leachate: Kinetic Studies

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Agriculture: Food Science and Technology, 2018
In this study, the removal efficiency of Pb(II) from industrial leachate was investigated by using expanded perlite by adsorption. The effects of pH, contact time, and adsorbent dosage were examined on the Pb(II) removal.

Preparation and Performance Characterization of Low-Density 3D-Printed Expanded Perlite–Foam Concrete

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Traditional lightweight foam concrete typically introduces a large number of voids into the concrete using surfactants to reduce density. However, in 3D printing, the instability of lightweight foam concrete can affect the workability of the slurry ...
