Preparation of paraffin/expanded vermiculite with enhanced thermal conductivity by implanting network carbon in vermiculite layers

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2015
Abstract Paraffin/expanded vermiculite with modified porous carbon layer was prepared in the study. In the composite phase change materials (PCM), expanded vermiculite was impregnated with sucrose in the layer and then carbonated in situ in order to enhance thermal conductivity and improve the adsorption capacity of expanded vermiculite, which acted ...

Effect of natural and expanded vermiculite clays on the properties of eco-friendly biopolyethylene-vermiculite clay biocomposites

Composites Part B: Engineering, 2019
Abstract In this work, the effect of natural (NV) and expanded (EV) vermiculite clays on the properties of biopolyethylene (BioPE)-vermiculite clay biocomposites was investigated. It was observed that the addition of NV and EV clays to BioPE increased the Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT) and improved the fire retardance.

Preparation and microstructure of in-situ gel modified expanded vermiculite

Ceramics International, 2013
Abstract Expanded vermiculite is an important thermal insulation material with a layered micro-porous structure. In this paper, modified expanded vermiculite was obtained using an in-situ gel method. Under experimental conditions of n (epoxy propane) : n (A1(NO3)3) : n (ethanol) =5.5:1:30, the alumina aerogel was distributed evenly in the ...

MINERALOGICAL FEATURESOF THE EXPANDED VERMICULITE ORES

Steklo i Keramika, 2022
The natural minerals of the Tebinbulak deposit, which are used as a thermal insulation material, have been studied, while their swelling coefficient depends on the size of the raw material and ranges from 3.47 to 7.67. The structure of the material has been studied by X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy.

Expanded vermiculite as an alternative adsorbent for the dysprosium recovery

Journal of the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers, 2021
Abstract Background Dysprosium (Dy) is a critical resource for developing high-tech green energies, and its growing demand implying the need to recover it from secondary sources. Due to the known stability, availability, and high cation exchange capacity, adsorption on vermiculite can be promisor for this purpose. Methods This work evaluated the
