Thermal resistance of hardened cement pastes containing vermiculite and expanded vermiculite

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2011
The durability and thermal stability of hardened Portland cement pastes containing vermiculite (V) and expanded vermiculite (EV) exposed to high temperatures were studied. Different mixtures were prepared using 2.5, 5, and 10 wt% of both types of V. Each mixture, after 28 days of hydration, was heated at 300, 600, and 800 °C for 3 h.

An unusually expandable low-charge vermiculite

Clay Minerals, 1987
AbstractA lamellar macroscopic Mg-vermiculite from Santa Olalla, Spain, which is accompanied by some talc and mica, shows a reversible expansion on glycolation due to the presence of layers with two different charges. The most probable origin of the vermiculite is by low-temperature hydrothermal transformation of phlogopite.

Expanded vermiculite as heat insulation material

Refractories, 1975
A heat insulation material of apparent density 0.5–0.6 g/cm3 and a refractoriness of 1500–1600°C was produced from expanded vermiculite, and a technology for producing ceramic vermiculite heat-insulation slabs was developed.

Preparation of Expanding Vermiculite by Chemical and Microwave Methods

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
Based on the characters of expanding and layer adsorbing of vermiculite, industrial vermiculite samples from Weili Mine of Xinjiang Province were expanded by both chemical and microwave chemical methods. The influences to the exfoliation ratio of different parameters such as concentration of hydrogen peroxide, power of the microwave, heating time, ratio

Effect of expanded vermiculite on aging properties of bitumen

Construction and Building Materials, 2012
Abstract Expanded vermiculite (EVMT) clays modified bitumen was prepared by using EVMT, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB)–EVMT and octadecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (ODBA)–EVMT as modifiers. The morphology characteristic of the modified bitumen was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The binders were aged by pressure aging vessel (

Dysprosium adsorption on expanded vermiculite: Kinetics, selectivity and desorption

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2021
Abstract Dysprosium obtainment from secondary sources is a current theme in the scientific scenario due to the high demand and environmental issues related to primary production. Hydrometallurgy applied to urban mines can be a potential alternative to separate and recover critical metals as dysprosium.

Preparation and application of expanded and exfoliated vermiculite: A critical review

Chemical Physics, 2021
Abstract Vermiculite (VMT) has a unique characteristic of volume expansion after heating, forming highly porous material called expanded VMT, which can be further exfoliated into two-dimensional nanosheets. In this review, we summarized the preparation methods of expanded and exfoliated VMT, as well as the preparation mechanism.

Expanded Vermiculite Applied in the Catalytic Process as a Catalyst Support

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
Amorphous NiB supported on expanded vermiculite (EV) catalyst was prepared as an example to show the superior characteristics of EV as a novel carbon support material. EV and the prepared catalysts were characterized by ICP, SEM, TEM and SAED. The catalytic activity of prepared catalysts was tested by the hydrogenation of sulfolene to sulfalone, with ...

Synthesis and Properties of Heat-Stable Expanded Smectite and Vermiculite

Clays and Clay Minerals, 1979
AbstractWhen aqueous dispersions of Na+-smectite or n-butylammonium-vermiculite react with sulfate salts of Fe(II), Co(II), or Ni(II) bipyridyl or 1, 10-phenanthroline complexes in excess of the cation-exchange capacities, intersalated phases with spacings of about 29.5 Å are obtained.
