Reflexivity and expansive learning theory in interprofessional workplace learning

Journal of Interprofessional Care, 2021
Our aim in this article was to combine the theories of reflexivity and expansive learning theory to elucidate how they may interact in interprofessional health student teams' learning activities in the workplace. According to Margaret Archer reflexivity is "the regular exercise of the mental ability, shared by all normal people, to consider themselves ...

On Learning Ring-Sum-Expansions

SIAM Journal on Computing, 1990
Summary: Ring-sum-expansions (RSE) are representations of Boolean functions over the base \(\{\wedge,\oplus,1\}\), which reflect arithmetic operations in \(GF(2)\). \(k\)-RSE is the class of ring-sum-expansions containing only monomials of length at most \(k\). \(k\)-term-RSE is the class of ring-sum- expansions having at most \(k\) monomials.

Expansive learning across workplace boundaries

International Journal of Educational Research, 2011
Abstract The article analyses a collaborative effort of learning across workplace boundaries in a regional learning network of South Savo, Finland. The focus is on the Forum of In-house Development in the network. Our objective is to highlight a dialectical approach to boundaries that draws from the ideas of cultural–historical activity theory ...

Deep learning-enhanced, open-source eigenmode expansion

Optics Letters, 2022
We present an open-source eigenmode expansion (EME) software package entirely implemented in the Python programming language. Eigenmode expansion Python (EMEPy) utilizes artificial neural networks to reproduce electromagnetic eigenmode field profiles to accelerate the EME process by a factor of 3.

Learning color image expansion filters

2009 16th IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2009
Image expansion by linear filtering is attractive and widely used because of its simplicity and efficiency, and many interpolation methods fall in this category. In this study, we model filtering as linear regression from low- to high-resolution color image patches, and propose a learning-based design method of image expansion filters based on sparse ...

Deep learning: Evolution and expansion

Cognitive Systems Research, 2018
Abstract This paper historically attempts to map the significant success of deep neural networks in notably varied classification problems and application domains with near human-level performance. The paper also addresses the various doubts surrounding the acceptance of deep learning as a science of future.

Ethics and Expansive Learning

2016
This final chapter follows the points made so far into the domain of ethical conclusions about practice, contrasting the widespread desire for rule-based ethical regulation with the claims of immanent ethical practice. I underline the ethical implications of epistemological choices which have been made in this connection and discuss the challenges of ...
