Financial time series and other human-driven, non-natural processes are known to exhibit fat-tailed outcome distributions. That is, such processes demonstrate a greater tendency for extreme outcomes than the normal distribution or other natural ...

Approximate Expected Utility Rationalization [PDF]
We propose a new measure of deviations from expected utility theory. For any positive number~$e$, we give a characterization of the datasets with a rationalization that is within~$e$ (in beliefs, utility, or perceived prices) of expected utility theory. The number~$e$ can then be used as a measure of how far the data is to expected utility theory.

The trend to shop secondhand products (SHPs) is accelerating owing to a substantial interest of customers particularly toward online shopping of SHPs. Drawing on the expectation–confirmation model (ECM), this study aims to examine the relationships among

Decomposable Weak Expectations [PDF]
In this article we define a special class of weak expectations for a representation of a separable unital C*-algebra, called decomposable weak expectation. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for such kind of weak expectations to exist for a given representation.

Insights into PI3K/AKT signaling in B cell development and chronic lymphocytic leukemia
This Review explores how the phosphoinositide 3‐kinase and protein kinase B pathway shapes B cell development and drives chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a common blood cancer. It examines how signaling levels affect disease progression, addresses treatment challenges, and introduces novel experimental strategies to improve therapies and patient outcomes.

Expectations and Investment [PDF]
AbstractUsing micro data from Duke University quarterly survey of Chief Financial Officers, we show that corporate investment plans as well as actual investment are well explained by CFOs’ expectations of earnings growth. The information in expectations data is not subsumed by traditional variables, such as Tobin’s Q or discount rates.

Diphthamide synthesis is linked to the eEF2‐client chaperone machinery
The diphthamide modification of eukaryotic translation elongation factor 2 (eEF2) is important for accurate protein synthesis. We addressed the potential coordination of de novo eEF2 synthesis with simultaneous or subsequent diphthamide modification. Our work reveals that the co‐chaperones Hgh1 and Cpr7, which are known to support folding of nascent ...
