Iterated extended Kalman smoothing with expectation-propagation [PDF]
We formulate extended Kalman smoothing in an expectation-propagation (EP) framework. The approximation involved (a local linearization) can be looked upon as a 'collapse' of a non-Gaussian belief state onto a Gaussian form. This formulation allows us to come up with better approximations to the belief states, since we can iterate the algorithm until no

Rigorous dynamics of expectation-propagation-based signal recovery from unitarily invariant measurements [PDF]
This paper investigates sparse signal recovery based on expectation propagation (EP) from unitarily invariant measurements. A rigorous analysis is presented for the state evolution (SE) of an EP-based message-passing algorithm in the large system limit ...

Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

A Fuzzy Set Approach to Using Linguistic Hedges in Geographical Information Systems
Spatial data quality has been attracting much interest. Much of the problem lies in the degree to which current data structures are unable to model the real world and the way imperfections in the data may propagate during analyses and cast doubt on the ...

Expectation Propagation in GenSpace Graphs for Summarization
Summary mining aims to find interesting summaries for a data set and to use data mining techniques to improve the functionality of Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) systems. In this paper, we propose an interactive summary mining approach, called GenSpace summary mining, to find interesting summaries based on user expectations. In the mining process,

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Equalization with Expectation Propagation at Smoothing Level
In this paper we propose a smoothing turbo equalizer based on the expectation propagation (EP) algorithm with quite improved performance compared to the Kalman smoother, at similar complexity. In scenarios where high-order modulations or/and large memory channels are employed, the optimal BCJR algorithm is computationally unfeasible. In this situation,

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.
