THE BRAIN EXPERIMENT

The Eleventh Marcel Grossmann Meeting, 2008
The rotational component of the CMB polarization, the so-called B-modes, is one of the major topic for next generation CMB experiments. This signal traces the effect on the CMB due to primordial gravitational waves produced during the inflationary epoch, probing the physics of the very early universe at GUT energy scales. This is a challenge, being the

Romanticism and the Experience of Experiment

"Experiment" was an important term and concept for many Romantic authors. In All Religions are One, for example, William Blake wrote, admittedly ambiguously, " [t]he true method of knowledge is experiment" (1); more explicitly, Wordsworth described the poems in Lyrical Ballads (1798) as "experiments" (i), and seems thereby to have been the first author

Experiments and experiences in stereo

IRE Transactions on Audio, 1960
A considerable number of observations as well as formal experiments in High Fidelity Stereo sound are reported. Three-channel stereo with corner flanking speakers has been shown to achieve accuracy in both tonality and geometry. A large center speaker with small outriggers is observed to lack both tonality and geometry.
