In situ Adsorption Technology for Remediation of Cr(Ⅵ) Contaminated Soil

open access: yesYankuang ceshi
The commonly used remediation technologies for Cr(Ⅵ) contaminated soil, such as guest soil, reduction, solidification, microbiology, etc., have drawbacks such as high cost, slow efficiency, and secondary oxidation of Cr(Ⅵ).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Evaluation of eight repellents in deterring eastern cottontail herbivory in Connecticut

open access: yesHuman-Wildlife Interactions, 2017
Herbivory by eastern cottontails (Sylvilagus floridanus) can be the source of significant agricultural, nursery, and managed landscape damage. Where cottontails cannot be managed by lethal means or where trap and release is infeasible, repellents may be ...

Educational Experiences and Experience Styles

open access: yesInteraction Design and Architecture(s), 2010
The on-going revival of educational processes as experiences leads to a complex reflection on the characteristics that can make such processes more meaningful, especially on a personal level. In this article we propose a cultural framework that, starting from the definition of a set of general features characterizing the ‘experience’, allows to ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Deciphering the Pharmacological Mechanism of the Herb Radix Ophiopogonis in the Treatment of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma by Integrating iTRAQ-Coupled 2-D LC-MS/MS Analysis and Network Investigation

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
The herb Radix Ophiopogonis (RO) has been used effectively to treat nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) as an adjunctive therapy. Due to the complexity of the traditional Chinese herbs, the pharmacological mechanism of RO’s action on NPC remains unclear.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
