Aerodynamics and ventilation in buildings: Experimental investigation

Solar & Wind Technology, 1987
Abstract Application of the present building codes in Saudi Arabia results in groups of narrowly spaced rectangular shaped buildings with internal lightwells, as a source of natural ventilation for service spaces. Experimental work is conducted on a scale model to investigate the natural ventilation conditions in and around such buildings.

Experimental Development of Hingeless Aerodynamic Control Effectors

26th AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Conference, 2008
The effectiveness of solid state Synthetic Jet Actuators (SJA), as hingeless aerodynamic control effectors, was experimentally investigated on a three-dimensional wing in the Georgia Tech Research Institute Model Test Facility (MTF) low speed wind tunnel.

Experimental and Numerical Study of Cyclogiro Aerodynamics

AIAA Journal, 2006
A combined experimental and numerical study of a cyclogiro rotor operating at Reynolds numbers about 40,000 has been conducted. The study reveals complex flow field with complex (unsteady) interactions between the blades and the wakes of other blades. In spite of this complexity, time-averaged integral forces acting on the rotor can be predicted by a ...

Experimental investigation of helikopter fuselage aerodynamics

2021
EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF HELICOPTER FUSELAGE AERODYNAMICS SUMMARY Wind tunnel tests were conducted at the ITU Trisonic Research Center facilities. Eiffel and Gümüşsüyü wind tunnels are used for the experiments. Detailed investigation of isolated helicopter fuselage aerodynamics has been done for this study.

Gustave Eiffel - pioneer of experimental aerodynamics

The Aeronautical Journal, 1990
Travellers flying into Paris would not connect the famous 100-year-old landmark, the Eiffel Tower, an immense and complex structure of open ironwork, 300 m high, with the aerodynamics of their streamlined modern aeroplane. The unexpected association between the two is Gustave Eiffel — ‘le magicién de fer’ — builder of the Tower in 1889, who pioneered ...

Benchmark problems for simulating Hyperloop aerodynamics

The Physics of Fluids
Hyperloop is proposed as the next generation of sustainable high-speed transport. Recently, an increasing body of literature has been amassed on Hyperloop aerodynamics, however, the vast majority of this work is numerical.

Clap and Fling Aerodynamics - An Experimental Evaluation

Journal of Experimental Biology, 1977
ABSTRACT The ‘Clap and Fling’ hypothesis, which describes augmentation of lift during the wingbeat of certain insects and birds, was evaluated experimentally in model form. Using induced velocity output as a lift index, and testing at a Reynolds number of roughly 83000, it was learned that: The main ‘Clap and Fling ...
