Experimental methods for studying amyloid cross‐interactions
AbstractInteractions between amyloid proteins represent the cornerstone of various pathogenic pathways, including prion conversion and co‐development of distinct kinds of systemic amyloidosis. Various experimental methodologies provide insights into the effects of such cross‐interactions on amyloid self‐assembly, which range from acceleration to ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Experimental study of crossing angle collision [PDF]
The non-linear coupling due to the beam-beam interaction with crossing angle has been studied. The major effect of a small (/spl sim/12 mrad) crossing angle is to excite 5Q/sub xspl plusmn/Q/sub s/ integer coupling resonance family on large amplitude particles, which results in bad lifetime, On the CESR, a small crossing angle (/spl sim/2.4 mr) was ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The effect of hybrid transgression on environmental tolerance in experimental yeast crosses
Evidence is rapidly accumulating that hybridization generates adaptive variation. Transgressive segregation in hybrids could promote the colonization of new environments.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Generation mean analysis for grain yield and its components in popcorn
Knowledge about genetic composition of a character helps plant breeders to plan their breeding programs. Grain yield and related traits are very important in maize breeding programs.

Generating Fiber Crossing Phantoms Out of Experimental DWIs [PDF]
In Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), differently oriented fiber bundles inside one voxel are incorrectly modeled by a single tensor. High Angular Resolution Diffusion Imaging (HARDI) aims at using more complex models, such as a two-tensor model, for estimating two fiber bundles.
