The experimental facilities at ISAC

Hyperfine Interactions, 2013
The ISAC accelerator facility provides rare isotope beams in three different areas at low (20–60 keV), medium-high (up to 1.8 AMeV) or higher energies (up to 16 AMeV, depending on the mass-to-charge ratio of the isotopes). There is a corresponding suite of experimental installations on the floor, most of them permanently, which are uniquely matched to ...

An experimental program-testing facility

IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 1975
This paper describes an experimental program testing facility called the interactive semantic modelling system (ISMS). The ISMS is designed to allow experimentation with a wide variety of tools for collecting, analyzing, and displaying testing information.

A facility for experimentation in man-machine interaction

Proceedings of the November 30--December 1, 1965, fall joint computer conference, part I on XX - AFIPS '65 (Fall, part I), 1965
The broad objective of the project of which the work reported below is a part is to explore and develop techniques in man-machine interaction. The situation involving a person interacting with a machine in the performance of a task generally requires that the person be on-line with the machine.

Dark fibre facilities for research and experimentation

2009 5th International Conference on Testbeds and Research Infrastructures for the Development of Networks & Communities and Workshops, 2009
This paper introduces the Czech National Research and Educational Network called CESNET2 and especially experimental facility. The paper also addresses a necessity of full access to the physical layer in experimental networking. Furthermore it summarizes research and experimental achievements and resources available for experimentation and formulates ...

Implementation of the FELIX SDN Experimental Facility

2015 Fourth European Workshop on Software Defined Networks, 2015
The development of test environments as close as possible to the real world scenarios is becoming a fundamental requirement in designing innovative network applications. This environment must be fully configurable and reliable enough to provide similar results in multiple experiment runs.

A Soft X-Ray Experimental Facility

Advances in X-ray Analysis, 1984
AbstractA high vacuum soft x-ray source has been coupled to a large volume experimental chamber to provide a versatile facility for x-ray investigations in the energy range of 0.1 to 10 kev. The source chamber presently contains a modified Herike tube, but can employ any of a variety of source designs.

An Experimental Radar Facility

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1968
A coherent CW superheterodyne radar system operating at frequencies of 9, 17, 35, and 70 GHz is described. The radars are installed on a free-flight range to study backscattering from wakes of hypersonic-velocity projectiles. Each radar is equipped with a focused-lens antenna oriented at an angle of approximately 45° to the flight axis.

Chemical Modeling Experimental Facility

AIAA Journal, 1973
A high-temperature turbulent jet facility has been constructed for the purpose of partially simulating a turbulent, chemically reacting, hypersonic wake. A mass spectrometer which is movable throughout the jet allows detailed studies of the evolution of the chemistry, particularly the ionic species, produced via the interaction of high-temperature air ...

The Automation of the Transonic Experimental Facility (TEF) and the Aerodynamic Experimental Facility (AEF)

2015
Abstract : The Aerodynamic and Transonic Experimental Facilities at the US Army Research Laboratory (ARL) maintain free-flight spark ranges to evaluate the aerodynamic and flight dynamic performances of gun-launched projectiles. Currently, firing a projectile and capturing its shadowgraph image on film is a manual process which is tedious and limiting ...

Infrastructure Overview with Focus on Experimental Facility

2012
CESNET’s main role is to run, maintain and provide services for users of Czech NREN called CESNET2. It has more than 5 thousand kilometres of leased fibres of which 360 kilometres are represented by the Experimental Facility. Connection to other NRENs (mostly represented by GEANT members) has capacity of 10Gbit, with exception of cz.NIC, where CESNET ...
