Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Does the Artificial Enhancement and Release Activity Affect the Genetic Diversity of Marbled Rockfish Sebastiscus marmoratus in Zhoushan Waters?

open access: yesFishes
Artificial enhancement and release activity is an important method in the restoration of fishery resources. In order to understand the possible genetic effect of hatchery-released populations on wild populations during the artificial enhancement and ...

Observations préliminaires sur la répartition et les fluctuations de l'ichtyomasse exploitable dans les différentes zones écologiques du lac Ihema (bassin moyen de l'Akagera, Rwanda) [PDF]

open access: yesTropicultura, 1988
Preliminary considerations on distribution and changes in fishable ichtyomass in the ecological areas of lake Ihema (Akagera middle, Foodplain, Rwanda). Since 1981, commercial fishing is accomplished in lake Ihema with gillnets of 50 mm meshes and a mean

The Gyaros island marine reserve: A biodiversity hotspot in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2022
Since July 2019, Gyaros island in the central Aegean Sea, enjoys the status of a partial Marine Protected Area (MPA), allowing for exploitation by small-scale fishers following specific spatio-temporal restrictions.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Spatio-Temporal Habitat Dynamics of Migratory Small Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys polyactis) in Hangzhou Bay, China

open access: yesFishes
The small yellow croaker (Larimichthys polyactis), a migratory estuarine-demersal fish critical to East Asian fisheries, has faced severe population declines because of anthropogenic pressures (e.g., overfishing and anthropogenic habitat modification ...

Fishing Nets and String at the Final Mesolithic and Early Neolithic Site of Zamostje 2, Sergiev Posad (Russia)

open access: yesOpen Archaeology, 2023
The site Zamostje 2, located in Sergiev-Posad district of Moscow (Russia) on the west bank of the Dubna River, has provided two Mesolithic and one Early Neolithic occupations dated from 7000 to 5400 cal BC. Thanks to the waterlogged environment, the site

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Analysis of the fishing strategies of the yellowfin tuna (Thunnus Albacares) Eastern Pacific Fishery Based on Monte Carlo simulations of a density-dependent matrix model

open access: yesCiencias Marinas, 2000
The effect of the fishing effort on the age structure has not been considered in many models. To consider both uncertainty and age structure, a density-dependent matrix model based on a discrete time-form of the logistic equation using the Leslie ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
