Site-specific treatment responses in on-farm precision experimentation

open access: yes, 2019
There is a large body of research on determining the impact of field variability of soil on crop yields. In contrast, site-specific information about crop responses to agronomic treatments is less frequent. On-Farm Precision Experimentation (OFPE) brings important information to understand the spatial variation of crop response to agronomic practices ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Precise distance measurement with stereo camera: experimental results

open access: yesPeerJ Computer Science
Today, image processing is used in many areas, especially artificial intelligence. This is because images are thought to contain a lot of information. In addition, many distance measurement studies have used image processing techniques. However, no studies have reached these high sensitivity and accuracy rates that can be used in engineering.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

iRGD-modified 3D exosomes delivered miR-99b-5p induces ferroptosis to inhibit colorectal cancer progression by regulating FGFR3/PI3K/AKt pathway

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy
Background Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)-derived exosomes present great potential as nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery. Moreover, the therapeutic efficacy of exosomes can be substantially enhanced through functional modifications and the ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Optimal plot size for the evaluation of phenotypic traits in soybean seedlings

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology
Phenotypic traits with discriminatory capacity have been studied in recent years. However, scientific studies often employ experimental plots of varying sizes.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Border effect on the agronomic evaluation of wheat cultivars

open access: yesCrop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology
The aim of this study was to assess the border effect in wheat agronomic trials in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Experiments were conducted in three environments using 16 cultivars in plots of five rows (two outer rows as the border area).
