Experimental Investigation and Numerical Simulation of Corrugated Steel Plate Shear Wall Considering the Gravity Load

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
The corrugated steel plate shear wall (CSPSW) has high strength, ductility, and energy dissipation capacity and can be used as the lateral force-resisting system of multi-story and high-rise buildings. The vertical load transmitted by the upper floor and

Experimental study of gravity flow under confined conditions

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rock Mechanics and Minings Sciences, 2014
Abstract Caving methods rely on gravity to break up and transport large amounts of ore and waste. Massive underground mining is becoming even more prevalent due to the depletion of surface mining reserves. It is thus relevant to study the gravity flow mechanisms that will occur at deeper levels. Despite the importance of gravity flow, there is a lack

Might the 2PN Perihelion Precession of Mercury Become Measurable in the Next Future?

open access: yesUniverse, 2023
The Hermean average perihelion rate ω˙2PN, calculated to the second post-Newtonian (2PN) order with the Gauss perturbing equations and the osculating Keplerian orbital elements, ranges from −18 to −4 microarcseconds per century μascty−1, depending on the

Frame-Dragging in Extrasolar Circumbinary Planetary Systems

open access: yesUniverse, 2022
Extrasolar circumbinary planets are so called because they orbit two stars instead of just one; to date, an increasing number of such planets have been discovered with a variety of techniques.

Limitations in Testing the Lense–Thirring Effect with LAGEOS and the Newly Launched Geodetic Satellite LARES 2

open access: yesUniverse, 2023
The new geodetic satellite LARES 2, cousin of LAGEOS and sharing with it almost the same orbital parameters apart from the inclination, displaced by 180 deg, was launched last year. Its proponents suggest using the sum of the nodes of LAGEOS and of LARES

The Lense–Thirring Effect on the Galilean Moons of Jupiter

open access: yesUniverse, 2023
The perspectives of detecting the general relativistic gravitomagnetic Lense–Thirring effect on the orbits of the Galilean moons of Jupiter induced by the angular momentum S of the latter are preliminarily investigated.

Experimental study of spatiotemporally localized surface gravity water waves [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2012
We present experimental results on the study of spatiotemporally localized surface wave events on deep water that can be modeled using the Peregrine breather solution of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. These are often considered as prototypes of oceanic rogue waves that can focus wave energy into a single wave packet.

Is There Still Something Left That Gravity Probe B Can Measure?

open access: yesUniverse, 2020
We perform a full analytical and numerical treatment, to the first post-Newtonian (1pN) order, of the general relativistic long-term spin precession of an orbiting gyroscope due to the mass quadrupole moment J 2 of its primary without any ...

Lower-Body Positive Pressure Treadmill Training for Pediatric Gait Disorders: A Scoping Review

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The purpose of this scoping review was to examine the literature on the use of anti-gravity treadmills and its effects on lower-limb motor functions in children and adolescents with locomotor impairments.

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE GROWTH OF GRAVITY CURRENTS

open access: yesDoboku Gakkai Ronbunshu, 1995
