Biofilm‐Antagonist Ginger‐Based 3D‐Printable Photoresins for Complex Implant Designs Exhibiting Advanced Multifunctional Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work offers unique Ginger‐based 3D‐printable resins that can print customizable high‐resolution complex designs. The customizable printing backbone of Zingerol prints also mimics various human bones' strength. Acquisition of in‐vivo biocompatibility in rat model with no severe inflammatory response, along with in‐vitro antioxidant and ex‐vivo anti‐

Response and Resistance to Paradox-Breaking BRAF Inhibitor in Melanomas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
FDA-approved BRAF inhibitors produce high response rates and improve overall survival in patients with BRAF V600E/K-mutant melanoma, but are linked to pathologies associated with paradoxical ERK1/2 activation in wild-type BRAF cells.

Predicting Axonal Response to Molecular Gradients with a Computational Model of Filopodial Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Axons are often guided to their targets in the developing nervous system by attractive or repulsive molecular concentration gradients. We propose a computational model for gradient sensing and directed movement of the growth cone mediated by filopodia ...

An Injection‐Molded Modified Silicone Rubber for Cancer‐on‐Chip Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
This study describes the characterization and application of an injection‐molded functionalized PDMS fluidic insert for the commercially available Micronit system. Modified PDMS can accommodate cell culture and is able to covalently bind proteins for long‐lasting coatings under flow‐conditions.

Quantitative Assessment of Gut and Vascular Barriers in TTOP, a Cartridge‐Based Bicompartmental Culture Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The modular, versatile, and standardized cartridge‐based culture module allows to replicate gut and vascular barriers. Its conventional handling requirements facilitate adoption by non‐technical users, while the design allows safe manipulation and retrieval of samples for permeability assays and endpoint analysis.

Endometrial explant culture to study the response of equine endometrium to insemination.

open access: yesReproduction in domestic animals = Zuchthygiene, 2009
Mating-induced endometritis (MIE) is ubiquitous in the horse after natural mating and artificial insemination with frozen/thawed semen causing the most aggressive response. The majority of mares eliminate MIE 24-48 h after insemination.

DKK3 Initially Preserves Acinar Integrity Through MEK‐Fos Signaling, but Later Switches to an Oncogenic Role in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In pancreatic cancer, the protein DKK3 is found to play a complex role: it initially slows early tumor growth but later promotes tumor aggressiveness. DKK3 expression evolves during progression and drives cancer severity by orchestrating cellular and molecular signaling pathways.

An in vitro assay for neural crest cell migration through the somites [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Neural crest cells in the trunk of the avian embryo come into contact with the somites and neural tube during the course of their migration. However, the relationship between the somites and the early migratory routes followed by these cells is not yet ...

Using blubber explants to investigate adipose function in grey seals:glycolytic, lipolytic and gene expression responses to glucose and hydrocortisone [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Adipose tissue is fundamental to energy balance, which underpins fitness and survival. Knowledge of adipose regulation in animals that undergo rapid fat deposition and mobilisation aids understanding of their energetic responses to rapid environmental ...

A Patient‐Derived Organoid Biobank of Adamantinomatous Craniopharyngioma as a Platform for Drug Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study successfully establishes adamantinomatous craniopharyngioma (ACP) patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) that preserve the histopathological and genetic features of the original tumors. Through drug sensitivity assays and subsequent mechanistic analyses, the study demonstrates that Ceritinib exerts its inhibitory effects on ACP PDO growth by ...
