Identification of TPRA1 as a Novel Receptor and Predictive Biomarker for Oncolytic Virus M1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies transmembrane protein adipocyte‐associated 1 (TPRA1) as a novel receptor for oncolytic virus M1 (OVM). TPRA1's ectodomain binds OVM particles, while its intracellular domain facilitates virus internalization, promoting efficient viral entry.

Assessing the Nature of Human Brain‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles on Synaptic Activity Via the Development of an Air‐liquid Microfluidic Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This seminal study highlights the interwoven and tightly regulated functions of brain‐derived extracellular vesicles. Using microfluidics, proteomics, and AI‐based electric signal analyses of cortical brain explants, this work provides a useful resource dataset revealing the composition of human brain‐derived extracellular vesicles obtained from ...

Assessment of the Integrity and Function of Human Term Placental Explants in Short-Term Culture

open access: yesMethods and Protocols
Human placental explants (HPEs) culture has generated significant interest as a valuable in vitro model for studying tissue functions in response to adverse conditions, such as fluctuations in oxygen levels, nutrient availability, exposure to pathogenic ...

Protein/Peptide Transduction in Metanephric Explant Culture

open access: yes, 2013
While gene targeting methods have largely supplanted cell/explant culture models for studying developmental processes, they have not eliminated the need for or value of such approaches in the investigator's technical arsenal. Explant culture models, such as those devised for the metanephric kidney and its progenitors, remain invaluable as tools for ...

Extracellular Matrix Viscoelasticity Regulates Mammary Branching Morphogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that mammary branching morphogenesis is regulated by extracellular matrix (ECM) stress relaxation. Slow stress‐relaxing matrices promote branching through focal adhesion signaling, collagen fiber alignment, and cell contractions, whereas fast stress‐relaxing matrices impair branching and collagen alignment.

DR5 Governs Compound Exocytosis in Colonic Goblet Cells via TATA‐Box Binding Protein‐Dependent Bestrophin‐2 Transcriptional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DR5 knockout exhibits a thinner colonic mucus layer, leading to mild dysbiosis, increased susceptibility to Citrobacter rodentium invasion, and exacerbated epithelial injury. Mechanistically, DR5 binds transcription factor TBP, which regulates the expression of gene Best2 via its promoter.
