Percutaneous Deployment of the Sinus‐SuperFlex‐DS Stent for Hybrid Stage I Palliation in Neonates Weighing ≤ 2.5 kg: A Multicenter Study

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 108, Issue 2, Page 644-652, August 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Hybrid stage I palliation (HS1P) has developed as an alternative to the Norwood stage I palliation for neonates with hypoplastic left heart and related left‐sided obstructive lesions. HS1P is currently used in various clinical settings, such as single ventricle palliation, bridge to decision, bridge to biventricular repair, or ...

Real‐world outcomes of responsive neurostimulation in patients with Lennox–Gastaut syndrome: A multicenter retrospective study

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 1244-1254, August 2026.
Abstract Objective Lennox–Gastaut syndrome (LGS) is a severe developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE) characterized by multiple seizure types and high resistance to antiseizure medication (ASM), often necessitating nonpharmacologic therapies, including neuromodulation.

Impact of Leaflet Thickness on Polymeric Valve Scaffold Function and Remodeling: Assessment in a 1‐ and 3‐Month Ovine Stented Pulmonary Valve Replacement Model

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, Volume 114, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Approaches to the structural design of tissue engineered heart valves (TEHVs) have varied broadly, ranging from material choice to microstructural and macro‐scale functional characteristics. Not only will each variable on this extensive list impact functional and restorative potential after implantation, but most of these variables also have ...

Impact of Gentamicin‐Impregnated Collagen Sponge on the Incidence of Access Related Infections After Full‐Support Microaxial Flow Pump Therapy

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 1153-1163, August 2026.
Local application of gentamicin for wound closure after full‐support microaxial flow pump therapy. ABSTRACT Background Surgically implanted microaxial flow pumps (mAFP) are increasingly used for cardiogenic shock treatment. Standard mAFP explantation is performed bedside with a shortening of the vascular prosthesis, which may represent a potential ...

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Explant Experience From a High-Volume Structural Heart Center

open access: yesAnnals of Thoracic Surgery Short Reports
Background: When transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) fails and repeat TAVR is not possible, TAVR explantation remains a viable strategy. However, results from multicenter studies have shown high morbidity and mortality.

Contemporary Management of Aortic Stenosis: Timing of Intervention and Lifetime Valve Management

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 8, August 2026.
As transcatheter treatment expands to younger and lower‐risk patients, aortic stenosis management is evolving from a single procedure to lifelong valve care. This review highlights the key challenges across the patient journey, from timely diagnosis and optimal intervention to durable valve performance, long‐term surveillance, and repeat intervention ...

Penetration enhancement effects of topically applied crosslinked hyaluronic acid

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 798-812, August 2026.
Cross‐linked hyaluronic acid (HA) was demonstrated to enhance the topical delivery of a variety of hydrophilic actives into the skin. This phenomenon was observed for both small molecules and macromolecules, the latter of which was analysed with MALDI mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI‐MSI).
