Blocking of Associative Learning by Explicit Descriptions

open access: yesCognition, 2022
People given written descriptions often learn and decide differently from those learning from experience, even in formally identical tasks. This paper presents two experiments detailing how telling participants about the value of one stimulus impacts a keystone learning effect – blocking.

Designing an instrument to measure explicit and implicit learning processes

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Educational Research, 2020
In this research paper, the researcher’s intention was to design an instrument that is able to measure learning under two different conditions: explicit and implicit learning.

Explicit Instructions Do Not Enhance Auditory Statistical Learning in Children With Developmental Language Disorder: Evidence From Event-Related Potentials

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
A current issue in psycholinguistic research is whether the language difficulties exhibited by children with developmental language disorder [DLD, previously labeled specific language impairment (SLI)] are due to deficits in their abilities to pick up ...

Explicit Gradient Learning

open access: yes, 2020
Black-Box Optimization (BBO) methods can find optimal policies for systems that interact with complex environments with no analytical representation. As such, they are of interest in many Artificial Intelligence (AI) domains. Yet classical BBO methods fall short in high-dimensional non-convex problems.

The Effect of Variability of Practice on the Basketball Free-Throw Learning under Implicit and Explicit Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesرشد و یادگیری حرکتی ورزشی, 2017
Motor and field characteristic change is called variability of practice that the learner experiences during skill practice. This study was designed to compare the effect of variability of practice on the basketball free-throw learning in implicit and ...

Variable Neural Contributions to Explicit and Implicit Learning During Visuomotor Adaptation

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2018
We routinely make fine motor adjustments to maintain optimal motor performance. These adaptations have been attributed to both implicit, error-based mechanisms, and explicit, strategy-based mechanisms.

Some factors which may affect the attainment of implicit and explicit knowledge in learning English as a second or foreign language [PDF]

open access: yesEnglish Studies at NBU, 2015
This article is an attempt to shed some more light on certain factors, related to individual differences in the process of second/foreign language acquisition/learning, proven by previous research in the field of second language acquisition (SLA).
