With increasing use of natural gas in urban metropolitan areas, utility tunnels that contain utility and gas lines have become critical infrastructure. A leak within a gas pipe may cause methane-air explosions in the tunnel, leading to structural damage ...

Effect of pressure on heat of explosion
Combustion and Flame, 1977Abstract The heat of explosion of Phenolformaldehyde NH 4 ClO 4 propellant has been measured at various pressures. The data fit the empirical equation Q = a + bP − cP2. The values of constants b and c could be satisfactorily predicted from thermodynamic standpoint.

Wire explosion at reduced pressures
19th Intl Congress on High-Speed Photography and Photonics, 1991Explosion phenomena of silver wires at reduced environmental air pressures have been investigated by applying oscillo-streak photographic technique, which has been designed for more exact temporal correlation between the oscilloscopic and streak records. Expanding speeds of metal cloud and shock wave increase at reduced pressure.

Influence of ducting on the explosion pressure
Combustion and Flame, 1986Abstract In spite of many investigations of pressure generation due to gaseous explosions in a vessel there is no reliable correlation between the experimental data and the theoretical models. It was shown that such factors as the presence of obstacles [1] and the acoustical feedback [2] can lead to a dramatic increase in pressure in the vessel in ...

Explosive gas pressure and work
International Journal of Mining Engineering, 1984The inference is that work produced by an explosive tends to be a result of explosive generated gas pressure rather than the more constant shock energy. The breakage and adiabatic work respond to calculated borehole pressure relationships with a very high correlation.

The Pressures developed in Gaseous Explosions
Nature, 1928IN the current issue of the Journal of the Chemical Society (Jan. 1928), Dr. G. B. Maxwell and Prof. R. V. Wheeler have published a paper entitled “The Pressures produced on Inflammation of Mixtures of (a) Carbon Monoxide and Air, and (b) Hydrogen and Air in a Closed Vessel.” From their carbon monoxide—air results they deduce the dissociation of carbon

Interaction of flame instabilities and pressure behavior of hydrogen-propane explosion
, 2020The flame destabilization mechanism of hydrogen-propane-air mixture is firstly revealed. The effects of unstable flame formation on pressure rise rate and burning rate are quantified.
