Explosive Properties of Primary Explosives

2012
The main requirements for primary explosives are sensitivity within useful limits, high initiating efficiency, reasonable fluidity, resistance to dead-pressing, and long-term stability. Useful limits mean that the substance must be sensitive enough to be initiated by an SII but not too sensitive as to be unsafe for handling or transportation.

Niche explosion

Genetica, 2010
The following syndrome of features occurs in several groups of phytophagous insects: (1) wingless females, (2) dispersal by larvae, (3) woody hosts, (4) extreme polyphagy, (5) high abundance, resulting in status as economic pests, (6) invasiveness, and (7) obligate parthenogenesis in some populations. If extreme polyphagy is defined as feeding on 20 or

On the transition to explosion of the burning of explosives

Combustion and Flame, 1963
Abstract The differences between burning of explosives and detonation are reviewed in the light of a number of research reports, and factors affecting the transition are noted. The acceleration of burning of granular explosives is discussed, with notes on effect of particle size and charge density, followed by observations on secondary solid ...
