Cosmology of light towers and swampland constraints

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study the dynamical evolution of FLRW cosmologies in the presence of a tower of scalar light states and a runaway exponential potential. Some of the attractor solutions have problematic behaviours from the EFT point of view, which we use to argue for ...

Blood Biomarkers and Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy for Gout: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustrating gout disease progression from asymptomatic hyperuricemia to chronic tophaceous disease, highlighting the limitations of conventional imaging and biochemical diagnostics and the potential of engineered SERS platforms for ultrasensitive blood‐based detection of urate‐related biomarkers across disease stages, with the color gradient

Solution‐Processed Thin‐Film Transistors With Tunable Temporal Dynamics for Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed CNT and CNT/P3HT ion‐gated transistors exhibit materials‐defined synaptic timescales: fast CNT devices for high‐frequency spiking and slow hybrid devices for temporal integration. Embedding these dynamics into coupled reservoir‐computing and spiking neural network simulations reveals that a Hybrid‐Reservoir / CNT‐SNN architecture ...

Pickering‐Engineered Microparticles for Magnetically Guided Motion and Light‐Triggered Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetically responsive wax microparticles stabilized by hematite cubes through the Pickering emulsification strategy are developed, showing controlled size, motion, and light‐activated catalytic activity. Annealing under a magnetic field enhances their mobility and steering.

Attractors for damped semilinear wave equations with singularly perturbed acoustic boundary conditions

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2018
Under consideration is the damped semilinear wave equation $$ u_{tt}+u_t-\Delta u+u+f(u)=0 $$ in a bounded domain $\Omega$ in $\mathbb{R}^3$ subject to an acoustic boundary condition with a singular perturbation, which we term "massless acoustic ...

Lagrangian predictability of high-resolution regional models: the special case of the Gulf of Mexico [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2004
The Lagrangian prediction skill (model ability to reproduce Lagrangian drifter trajectories) of the nowcast/forecast system developed for the Gulf of Mexico at the University of Colorado at Boulder is examined through comparison with real drifter ...

Enhancement of Dielectric Breakdown Strength and Recoverable Energy Density in Three‐Dimensional Heterointerfaces on BaTiO3–PbZrO3–PbTiO3 Films via Room‐Temperature Nano‐Clustering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A room‐temperature aerosol deposition process yields multiphase nano‐clustered dielectric capacitors containing discrete BaTiO3, PbZrO3, and PbTiO3 crystals. This architecture creates three‐dimensional heterointerfaces that induce interfacial charge trapping and effectively inhibit breakdown propagation.

Dye‐Initiated Chirped Cholesteric Polymer Networks Exhibiting Broadband Dissipative Chiral Photonic Bands

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dye‐based photoinitiator acting as a structure‐directing element, guides the formation of a cholesteric polymer network that behaves as a chirped photonic structure with dissipative chiral coupling. Photopolymerization freezes a depth‐dependent helical pitch, broadening the Bragg resonance spectrum.

Exponential attractors for a nonclassical diffusion equation

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
Summary: In this article, we prove the existence of exponential attractors for a nonclassical diffusion equation in \({H^{2}(\Omega)}\cap{H}^{1}_{0}(\Omega)\) when the space dimension is less than 4.
