The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Exponential families are statistical models which are the workhorses in statistics, information theory, and machine learning, among others. An exponential family can either be normalized subtractively by its cumulant or free energy function, or ...

Rank verification for exponential families [PDF]
Many statistical experiments involve comparing multiple population groups. For example, a public opinion poll may ask which of several political candidates commands the most support; a social scientific survey may report the most common of several responses to a question; or, a clinical trial may compare binary patient outcomes under several treatment ...

Local Influence for the Thin-Plate Spline Generalized Linear Model
Thin-Plate Spline Generalized Linear Models (TPS-GLMs) are an extension of Semiparametric Generalized Linear Models (SGLMs), because they allow a smoothing spline to be extended to two or more dimensions.

Exponential Family Matrix Completion under Structural Constraints [PDF]
We consider the matrix completion problem of recovering a structured matrix from noisy and partial measurements. Recent works have proposed tractable estimators with strong statistical guarantees for the case where the underlying matrix is low--rank, and

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Sensitivity function and entropy increase rates for z-logistic map family at the edge of chaos
It is well known that, for chaotic systems, the production of relevant entropy (Boltzmann-Gibbs) is always linear and the system has strong (exponential) sensitivity to initial conditions.

Interplay between RNA‐protein interactions and RNA structures in gene regulation
Methodological advances in mapping transcriptome‐wide RNA‐protein interactions and RNA structures have started to uncover the potential of RNP conformations in gene regulation. Competing RNA–RNA, RNA‐protein and protein–protein interactions shape the compaction and function of RNPs throughout their lifetime and may provide novel therapeutic targets in ...
