A Variational Beam Model for Failure of Cellular and Truss‐Based Architected Materials
Herein, a versatile and efficient beam modeling framework is developed to predict the nonlinear response and failure of cellular, truss‐based, and woven architected materials. It enables the exploration of their design space and the optimization of their mechanical behavior in the nonlinear regime. A variational formulation of a beam model is presented

A Novel Measure of Uncertainty in the Dempster-Shafer Theory
In the Dempster-Shafer theory, how to quantitatively evaluate the quality of information is an essential issue and also an open issue. Many of measures of uncertainty have been proposed in previous work, whereas some measures among them had been proved ...

Axiomatization of an exponential similarity function [PDF]
Abstract An individual is asked to assess a real-valued variable y based on certain characteristics x = ( x 1 ,…, x m ), and on a database consisting of n observations of ( x 1 ,…, x m , y ). A possible approach to combine past observations of x and y with the current values of x to generate an assessment of y is similarity ...

Architected Lattices with a Topological Transition
This article develops topological metamaterials showing multidirectional two‐step deformation under compression by embedding contact‐enabled topological mechanisms into lattice structures. Experiments on 3D‐printed 2D and 3D lattices and finite element simulations are conducted to demonstrate the working principle of the topological metamaterials.

On Exponential Functionals of Lévy Processes [PDF]
Exponential functionals of L vy processes appear as stationary distributions of generalized Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (GOU) processes. In this paper we obtain the infinitesimal generator of the GOU process and show that it is a Feller process. Further we use these results to investigate properties of the mapping , which maps two independent L vy processes

Functional equations for the stochastic exponential
In this paper, we consider two versions of functional equations for the stochastic exponential. One equation for a function of a semimartingale and its square characteristic and the second for non-anticipative functionals. A martingale characterization of the general solutions of these equations is given.

A symmetrical exponential model of soil temperature in temperate steppe regions of China
Global warming has caused changes in various ecological processes and has potential to change ecosystems’ stability. In spite of comprehensive studies to investigate air temperatures under global warming, much less is known about changes in soil ...
